Recruiting Recap 10/4

Recruiting Buzz

Luke Shiflett from Northwest Whitfield has had a dominating start to the year so far. The 2018 signal-caller has thrown for over 1500 yards and in just the last 2 games he has gone off – according to his head coach Josh Robinson, Shiflett has completed 38/55 passes (69.1% with 4 drops), 7 touchdowns and only 1 INT. The 2018 dual threat QB has received a fair amount of FBS interest so far but only a few schools (Troy) have offered. Georgia Tech, Miss State, Southern Miss, Marshall, Ohio, Jacksonville State, Western Kentucky, Tulane all have shown heavy interest too.

Griffin SR quarterback Tylan Morton (6’4″ 181 pounds) has set the state on fire and is narrowly behind Jake Fromm for the passing lead in Georgia (Fromm #3  & Morton #9 nationally). The 2017 prospect visited UGA last weekend, hanging out with Fromm as well. So far this season, Morton has thrown for 2360 yards, completed 141 out 198, with 23 TD’s and just 4 interceptions in 6 games. The senior gunslinger uses his height to look downfield and has the arm strength to bomb it – his SR HUDL is worth the watch.

Ridgeland’s versatile athlete Grayson Moore‘s recruitment has been picking up. The 2017 prospect has 414 yards and 8 touchdowns in 4 games with 5 touchdowns coming the week before last vs. Northwest Whitfield. A host of schools have contacted Moore about coming to visit over the next few weeks. The past two weekends he has visited Lindsey Wilson and Austin Peay. SR FILM

Class of ’19 athlete Derico Smith visited Auburn last weekend. He is a very promising young running back who we just made a profile for.

Cedartown SR athlete Quan Neal had a ridiculous game on the defensive side of the ball. Neal was all over the field totaling 20 tackles, 2 forced fumbles and 1 interception. The 2017 ball magnet has been relatively under recruited for the last few years. Watch 20 tackle Game FILM

Rockdale Co. athlete Jamichael Baldwin is currently #2 in the country in kick returns with 491 yards in 5 games. He is a very speedy back we have covered in the past, who transferred to Rockdale Co. for his SR season.

Carrollton gunslinger Mark Wright was in a shoot out last week against Rome and he rose to the occasion. The Junior was 21-38, 253 yards passing with 4 TD’s but 2 INT’s. He also rushed 6 times for 28 yards.

Cedar Grove’s star wide receiver Jadon Haselwood was offered by Ohio State today. We wrote about the young WR in the spring after a few big Power 5 programs offered – he has excellent length and elite ball skills. Haselwood is considered by Tom Lemming to be one of the top wide receivers for the Class of ’19.

Colquitt Co. has a starting QB for this season but the backup Steven Krajewski has gotten a fair amount of attention – Big 10 schools have expressed early interest. In the blowout win last weekend, Krajewski played 5 minutes in the 2nd quarter posting 2 passing TD’s and 1 rushing TD. Krajewski has outstanding size at 6’4″ and has solid speed once he gets out into the open.

Clarke Central WR Rico Arnold played excellently against talented Buford HS. The SR receiver who holds offers from Charlotte and Eastern Kentucky had 9 catches, 133 yards and 1 TD where he burned the entire defense.

Here’s a name to remember: Artemus McCorkle. The 5’11” 180 DB from Salem HS visited Georgia last weekend and his film is certainly worth the watch if you like athletes with tackling, speed and instincts.  SOPH FILM

Mykel Tubbs has been named Offensive Player of the Week at Holy Innocents’ over consecutive weeks now. The 2018 wide receiver is making a good comeback from last season and showcases incredible ability to go up and snag jump balls. A few Power 5 programs have shown interest, including local teams Georgia Tech and Georgia.

Brookwood’s junior running back Dante Black was named Gwinnett TD Club Offensive Player of the Month for September. Read more about the 2018 back who just visited UGA last weekend HERE.

We talked about Cole Phillips and Brenton King visiting UGA last weekend, but another kicker was in attendance with his teammate Kearis Jackson (UGA offer). Omar Cervantes from Peach Co. was a preseason All-State selection and has a booming leg.

Cortez Buckholtz, Will Huzzie and Jalil El-Amin all visited South Carolina this weekend. The Duluth athletes all show incredible athleticism at their respective positions. Duluth HUDL Page
