Expansion and movement takes place in V4.0 of the South Georgia Player Rankings. There are 15 new names expanding the Player Rankings, south of the gnat-line, from a Top 85 to a Top 100. Each new name is bolded.
Though he is not a new name, receiver Tyquan Johnson of Screven County moves from the North Georgia Player Rankings to the South making him the highest new entry at #21. Johnson recently picked up Power Five offers from Mississippi State and West Virginia. Teammate CJ Wright makes his entry at #25. He recently picked up offers from FAU and Georgia Southern.
The highest new entry, not from Screven County, is offensive lineman Courtney Perkins of Monroe Comprehensive. The 6-foot-3, 295-pound monster recently had a great showing at the TYGTAL Exposure Camp held at Lee County High School. Perkins comes in at #47.
Two-way standout Markeyce Troutman of Taylor County makes his entry at #52. As a junior he caught 12 passes for 137 yards and four scores while racking up 50 tackles in just nine games. Troutman claims offers from Jacksonville State and Stanford.
Perkins was not the only standout performer at the TYGTAL Exposure camp held in Leesburg. Coming in at #60 is 6-foot-2, 180-pound receiver Dre’Quan Garmon of Lee County. Garmon possesses excellent overall size, athleticism and body control.
One of the most impressive performers at the ESPFC in Savannah was dual-threat quarterback Craige Saxton of Tattnall County. The strong armed signal caller is so athletic that he could project at several positions at the next level. Saxton comes in at #65.
Since this is the first version of the rankings with major movement, we have added a column that displays what a player’s previous ranking was in V3.0. Linebacker Earnest Jones of Ware County makes the biggest jump from #19 to #13. His recruiting has blossomed with recent offers from Auburn, LSU, Oregon, Tennessee and Virginia.
Also ascending in the rankings is Jalen Goss (Lowndes), Kearis Jackson (Peach County) and Zakoby McClain (Valdosta). Goss recently committed to the Florida Gators, while Jackson and McClain continue to be two of the hottest prospects in all of South Georgia with over 20 FBS offers apiece.
The next version of the RecruitGeorgia.com South Georgia Player Rankings will take place after the spring evaluation period in June.
