RECRUITING BUZZ

As we all know by now, Demetris Robertson surprised most in the state and committed to California at the College Football Hall of Fame Sunday afternoon. He is widely considered the top athlete in the country and should be perfect at wide receiver in California’s spread passing attack—plus he gets the outstanding Cal-Berkeley education.

Northview Class of ’17 safety Chike Otaluka has spring offers from Western Kentucky, Ohio, Eastern Kentucky, Mercer, Tulane and Central Michigan. Back in March he scored a 100.35 SPARQ at The Opening.

Class of 2018 defensive end Brenton Cox was offered recently by Georgia State. The 6’4″, 235-pound pass-rusher played in the Elite Jr. Classic last winter. He was also offered by UNC and UMass in April.

Markaviest “BigCat” Bryant is a 6’5″, 231-pound dominating physical specimen from Crisp County. The rising senior was offered by LSU soon after his US Army All-American Bowl nomination. He runs a reported 4.65.

Another Hapeville student-athlete made headlines with cornerback Christopher Smith being offered by Southern California.  The rising junior also holds offers from Auburn, Fresno State and Kentucky.

The most recent offers for Class of ’17 linebacker Chinedu Ogbonna are Georgia State, Western Kentucky, Coastal Carolina, Charlotte, UMass and South Alabama.

Richmond Hill QB/ATH Brian Hughes was offered by Louisiana-Lafayette and Southern Miss last week. The rising senior took visits to GT’s and UGA’s spring games in April. Hughes benches 275, power cleans 290 and recently ran a 40 time of 4.53. He is also hearing from The Citadel, Kansas, Maryland, Florida Atlantic, ODU, Louisville and Charleston Southern. Update: The Citadel offered tonight.

His teammate Sam James shortly after his South Carolina offer received one from GT. The Class of ’18 WR/FS is a freak and will be a highly coveted recruit in the coming months.

Duke landed a big one for their 2017 recruiting class with the commitment of Will Taylor,offensive lineman from Grayson. The rising senior is 6’4″, 280 pounds and has excellent hops (VIDEO).

Alpharetta WR Carlos Carriere‘s recruitment has really picked up over the last few months. The 6’5″-6’6″ wideout has recent offers from Southern Miss, Navy, Mercer and Tulane. He was offered by Maryland in early March and visited the Mid-Atlantic school during his spring break.

Benedictine rising senior Wesley Kennedy was offered by Georgia State on April 28th. The elusive back now has eight offers—the most recent (outside of State) being from The Citadel, Southern Miss, Tulane, Marshall and Mercer.

Jack Nichols from Roswell received his first offer from Gardner-Webb. The Class of 2017 center is 6’3″, 288 and is a tough competitor in the trenches.

Marist offensive lineman Charlie Clark was offered by Army on April 27th. The big offensive lineman has also received offers this spring from Florida Atlantic, Georgia Southern, Elon and Mercer.

Class of 2017 Alexander wide receiver Justin Hall received his first offer from Charleston Southern the other day. He runs crisp routes and has reliable hands at the slot receiver position.

All-Region Wheeler safety Bennett Bay has received recent offers from Eastern Kentucky, Western Kentucky and Air Force.

Georgia State is the first school to offer Campbell athlete Kendall Lawrence. The junior OLB moved to Campbell after playing high school ball in Virginia two years ago.




Central Gwinnett 2018 QB Jarren Williams was offered by Kentucky, making the Wildcats his third offer. FSU and Louisville have also offered the high-potential QB (scouting report).

Grayson freshman All-American linebacker Owen Pappoe was offered by LSU on April 29th. He still had the highest SPARQ score in the country last we checked.

Dacula defensive tackle Brandon Jones was offered by Western Kentucky on April 29th.

Heard County quarterback Emory Jones was recently awarded the strongest arm at the Rivals Showcase Baltimore camps. He received an offer from UNC on April 29th and has interest in Tennessee, Clemson and UGA. Update: Jones was offered by Clemson per the Heard County Twitter page. He visited the Tigers multiple times in the last year.

Chattooga defensive tackle Michael Adams received an offer from Samford on April 29th. He recently repped 225 pounds 17 times.

Archer rising junior TE Brandon Shelnutt has received camp invites from Clemson, Kentucky, NC State and Auburn.

All Bi-City offensive guard William Nana received an offer from Dartmouth. The big man is undersized but is a pancake machine.

Roswell defensive end Koby Cumberlander was offered by Coastal Carolina, Western Kentucky and Georgia State recently.

Mike Allen, a 6’6″ Lanier defensive end, was offered by Southern California on April 30th. The big man has an offer from most of the schools in the Southeast at this point.

Pace wide receiver Trey Blount announced yesterday that he had committed to Georgia. The Class of ’17 receiver is a big-time threat and was offered by UGA almost exactly a year ago. He has incredible ball skills and makes beautiful adjustments to passes thrown his way.

Carrollton senior cornerback LaDamion Hunt was offered by Purdue earlier today.  He also holds offers from Kentucky, Louisville and Georgia Southern.

Cameron Graham, a Class of ’17 offensive tackle for Cherokee, was offered by UTSA this morning. The Roadrunners are his second offer behind Georgia State.

Walton wide receiver Dominick Blaylock landed another big-time offer today when the Miami Hurricanes submitted their stamp of approval. Colleges will be elbowing this summer to land a visit from the freshman All-American.

North Cobb’s versatile 2017 athlete Drew Tejchman was offered by Georgia Southern today.

Lassiter’s cornerback duo made news again today. Derrik Allen was offered by Miami and Ty Hardimon by Georgia State.

Westlake rising senior DB Tre Person was offered by Tulane today. He also received his first college offer last week from South Carolina State.

Aquinas WR Justin Gibbs was offered by UMass today. He is excellent at high-pointing the pass. He has also been offered by Southern Miss and Western Carolina recently.

St. Pius QB/ATH Grant Holloman was offered by Eastern Kentucky earlier today. He was also offered by Jax State and Army last month.

Jamaree Salyer might be one of the top players overall in the state and was offered today by Michigan. He was offered by Notre Dame on April 19th. Had a friend at The Opening say he was the best prospect there. – FILM

Avery Showell, a new transfer to Cartersville, was offered by Rutgers today. The 6’2″, 195-pound athlete was also offered by Charleston Southern last week.

McEachern rising junior Sydney Okafor has received camp invites to Lyon College, Dean College and Kentucky Christian.

Community Christian LB/S Ashton Hughes was offered by Kentucky Christian and will be visiting Stetson on May 14th.

Nick Lancaster is a Johns Creek OLB who currently holds an offer from Kennesaw State. He is also hearing from Syracuse, Duke, Army, Navy and Middle Tennessee.
