Recruiting Recap 2/15

Too much going on to write just individual stories, so here is today’s recruiting recap highlighting the latest offers in the state of Georgia and which players’ recruitments are trending up.

West Virginia made a push in the state today with defensive backs. The Mountaineers offered Telly Plummer (Langston Hughes), Jaycee Horn (Alpharetta), Donte Burton (Central Gwinnett), Terell Smith (South Gwinnett), Trey Morrison (Greater Atlanta Christian) and Jayce Rogers (Valdosta) today. Each one of these athletes is considered to be a top cover corner in the state of Georgia, but each has varying levels of skills to offer.

Mercer went through Callaway High School and offered a handful of their 2018 players. Courtney Williams, DQ Wilkerson, DJ Atkins and Lichon Terrell—every player’s profile is linked with his name.

Smooth wide receiver Genuine Potts of McEachern was offered by Tulane and Arkansas State today. That is now eight FBS offers for the dynamic young wide receiver. Potts’ recruitment should only continue to gain more steam, and he is absolutely a recruit to watch this offseason.

Georgia State is the first offer that we know of for Toombs Co. running back Keshawn Morgan. The rising senior has freakish athletic ability and size (6′ 205 lbs) to be a power back at the next level. His recruitment should really start picking up sooner more than later.

Both of Parkview’s first-team All-Region wide receivers, Miles Marshall and Justin Long, were offered by Arkansas State today. The dynamic duo was one of the best in the state of Georgia last season, amassing a ton of yardage. Marshall was also offered by Georgia State.

Back to cornerback Jaycee Horn from Alpharetta, whose recruitment has blown up since our cornerback rankings were released on January 12th. That very same day, Horn was offered by Wake Forest, Tennessee, Maryland, Mizzou and App State, and the next day, he was invited to the Nike Open Regional Camp and received an additional offer from Tulane. In just about a month, Horn now has 20 offers.

Junior Rome running back Jalynn Sykes has received offers from Virginia Tech, Memphis, Purdue, Georgia State and Minnesota so far today. Sykes has really good-looking film where he displays outstanding balance and vision. He was voted All-Region and had 1,092 yards and 16 TDs. JR FILM

One of the top DTs in Georgia, Darnell Jeffries of Newton, took a visit to Georgia Tech today. He visited GT for their JR day on the 29th of January.

Four-star-caliber linebacker Zakoby McClain of Valdosta is one of the best all-around athletes in the state of Georgia and was offered by Oklahoma. He also holds offers from P5 schools LSU, Wisconsin, Maryland, UCLA, South Carolina, Tennessee and Nebraska.

Promising freshman athlete Mecose Todd of Villa Rica was offered by Western Kentucky. We were extremely impressed with his early film on his RG profile – he looks like a natural power 5 running back with great size already at 6′ 200 lbs.

Clinch County athlete Charles McClelland was offered by Georgia Southern. The fluid ball-carrier has an explosive first step and just glides past the defense. He was an All-State selection.

Thomasville’s rising senior safety Charlie Thomas also was offered by Georgia Southern today—he is a thumper and one of the biggest hitters in the state of Georgia.

UAB is the 4th school to offer athletic OLB Tyler Bird. Both Georgia State and Colorado State offered yesterday that we highlighted in a STORY.

McEachern Class of 2019 running back Paris Brown received his first collegiate offer from South Carolina. Brown is 5’10”, 194 pounds and is one of the top backs for the Class of 2019 from early rankings.

Georgia State is the third FBS school to offer Aaron Casey (6’2″, 205) from Alexander. Casey lives on the edge, showing good speed out to the sideline and a lot of determination to get after the ball-carrier. JR FILM

Richmond Hill two-way athlete Sam James was offered by Wake Forest this evening. Offers have sporadically came in over the months since GT and South Carolina offered in Spring 16 but with Wake jumping in more P5 schools need to review his film.

One of the rising players in the state of Georgia is Warren Ericson from North Gwinnett. The Class of ’18 lineman with rock-solid fundamentals has been on a recruiting roll with Virginia Tech offering today and Auburn, LSU, Miami and Miss State earlier this month.

All-purpose back Gino Appleberry of Creekside received his first Big 10 offer late last night from Rutgers. More FBS programs are sure to check out the fleet-footed running back. Take a look at Appleberry and others in our APB rankings.
