Sleeper of the Day
Julian Shanks
2025 ATH
Arabia Mt.
Shanks helped his team to their first Region championship in school history, upsetting the perennial favorites in Tucker. The 2024 QB is a true athlete on the field showcasing good acceleration into his top speed. He is a good thrower while on the run. Shanks has a powerful arm and can snap off a throw with little effort. He is a well-put-together athlete. Gained about 10 lbs. and is around 190 at this point in his development. Shanks has some legit arm talent with the ability to change arm slots and is a bear trying to tackle in the pocket. Shanks is able to break off tackles and does a solid job of keeping his eyes upfield. Shanks is also the best basketball player at his school making All-Region honors as a junior to go along with football honors, of course. Shanks is pretty conservative with his passes, but it seems like he has the arm talent to stretch the field a lot more than he does currently. It’s hard not to see Shanks’ film and consider how he might look at safety, which seems like a natural fit at the next level given his frame and athleticism. Looking at his spring film, it’s evident that Shanks took some nice steps with his pass going into his senior year. He is throwing with a better release point and you can see has put in some work with his footwork. He continues to show some great raw arm talent, and maybe in the right option-based system he can thrive, but either way, Shanks has the athleticism to make an impact at the D1 level.
Commitments
Travis Smith Jr.
2025 Westlake
Tennessee
Highlight reel waiting to happen! Smith Jr. is someone we have covered for a good while, and he shows some of the best combinations of size and ball skills in the state of Georgia. The most impressive catch of his junior season came with less than a minute left against Cedar Grove, we covered it. Tennessee is grabbing another talented receiver out of the state, a tradition that continues.
Hezekiah Strickland
2025 Westlake
West Georgia
This is a sound commitment for West Georgia. Strickland has a good length at around 6’2″ and weighs just under 200 lbs. He is a linebacker prospect who can fly to the football and is aggressive in his pursuit. Impressive speed and might show some more flashes at inside linebacker this fall.
Landon Shaffer
2025 East Paulding
Rice
One of the top specialists in the state, Shaffer has been extremely consistent for East Paulding. The 5’10” senior kicks his field goals with no tee, so that alone adds a more translatable element to his kicking at the next level for Rice. Shaffer’s long was 50 yards and just recently at a camp sinked one.
Adam Cannon
2025 Hebron Christian
VMI
Sophomore to junior year Cannon made some really good progress. If he continues that kind of trajectory in 2024, then Cannon will be one of the top blockers in his classification. At 6’5″ and 290 lbs. offensive lineman is a hard worker who seemingly fits into the model VMI student-athlete.

Three ‘n Out
Micah Williams is a rising junior Cadet out of Benedictine who shows a lot of potential for this upcoming season. As a sophomore, the 6’1″ athlete showed impressive ball skills as a defensive back, but here in this offseason clip, we get a glimpse of Williams’ potential offensive impact this upcoming season. Williams is an impressive athlete who earned his first FBS offer from UNC back on June 5th and looks to be a P4 target for this next recruiting cycle.

Rankings are just a number, but when you look around various recruiting services, it certainly feels like some programs are missing the picture with Josiah Victor. The 2025 defensive tackle is a highly functional athlete with excellent lateral quickness and his max speed is nearly 20 MPH at 6’2″ 290 lbs. Boston College seems to have a steal with his commitment.

Rising junior MaTeo Wells out of Carrollton was putting in some major work at the Anderson College camp. He plays so well with his hands and shows incredible body control while sliding his feet, you can see why Wells is part of the offensive line rotation even as a sophomore for one of the top programs in the country. I’m excited to see what his junior film will look like.
I would like to thank @CoachThurn and all of the @AUTrojansFB staff for a great camp experience. Good luck on your season. @RecruitGeorgia pic.twitter.com/JBYe5ZD5rJ
