Sleeper of the Day

Caleb Easterling
2025 ATH
Richmond Hill

Easterling is a frequent All-Region selection at Richmond Hill. The do-it-all athlete will even take direct snaps on offense just to get the ball into his hands, and we expect his offensive output to see a large uptick in his senior year. Easterling shows really good football instincts. On defense, he plays low and aggressive attack passes out to the flat and finishing off tackles with impact. The 2025 athlete tackles with solid fundamentals going cheek to cheek and driving through the ball carrier. With a 555 lbs. squat, Easterling is one of the stronger athletes you can find in the state at 175 lbs. He is an explosive tackler. Physical while in pass coverage, he does a nice job guiding the receiver with his hand. Easterling needs to continue to work on his agility and become quicker flipping his hips in order to play cornerback at the next level. All things considered, maybe safety is the best fit for the 2025 athlete. Easterling sees the field well, and his excellent open-field tackling suggests that would be the best fit.

Commitments

Kaeden Gilstrap
2025 Walton
Wofford

The backup QB for Walton received plenty of snaps last fall while Walton steamrolled through most of the competition en route to a 14-1 season. The 6’2″ 185 lbs. senior throws a tight spiral with some good pop on his throws. Gilstrap could turn some heads this fall, so Wofford earning his commitment early was prudent.

Chastan Brown
2025 Northside-WR
UCF

The two-sport star unmistakably also plays basketball and looks the part on the field. His 6’6″ frame with pretty wide shoulders and elongated steps covers a lot of ground. Brown looks so natural sliding his feet in pass protection and his length to get underneath the pads of the rusher suggests Brown should be a great fit for UCF’s offensive system.

Dh’King Brown
2025 Upson-lee
Charleston Southern

Brown is a tough 6’3″ 250 lbs. defensive lineman who played on one of the roughest defenses in all of 3A. The energetic Brown has a quick first step and is pretty strong at the point of attack. Charleston Southern finds a high-motor defender who can line up in multiple spots.

Jartavius Flounoy
2025 Colquitt Co.
Charleston Southern

The 6’2″ 290 lbs. defensive tackle out of Colquitt County is really effective with his hands and gets off blocks as well as anyone in this recruiting class. Flounoy is an intense defensive tackle playing in the toughest classification in the state and will carry that competitiveness to Charleston Southern.

Three ‘n Out

Westlake’s star senior receiver Travis Smith Jr. will be making his commitment on July 13 at 7:30 PM. The 4-star will be choosing between Tennessee, Auburn, Georgia and Alabama. Smith was a player we routinely highlighted during the 2023 season; his game-winning touchdown catch against Cedar Grove was named play of the week. The 6’4″ pass-catcher has some of the best ball skills of anyone in this recruiting class. X is being weird about previewing his tweet for his commitment date so here is a video I made after his game-winning catch in the fall of ’23.

How cool is this? Buffalo Bills Head Coach Sean McDermott spent some time to talk with the Cambridge Bears earlier this week. Talk about a great opportunity for these young athletes to soak up information from one of the top coaches in the NFL. Be sure to keep an eye out this fall for Cambridge too. New Head Coach Tyler Jones is one of the most innovative offensive minds in the state, and they should find some early success.

Pittsburgh OL commit Torian Chester gives back to his community by helping out the local Pop Warner team. The Westover senior is a big guy with an even bigger heart. He will be looking to make first-team All-State this fall.
