Recruiting Recap 4/13

RECRUITING BUZZ

Jonathan Stewart visited Elon on April 10th and was offered. The 2017 Mountain View HS offensive tackle is 6’8″ 290-pounds, runs a reported 5.23 40 yard dash and has a 3.8 GPA. Last fall was his first season of organized football, and it looks like Stewart is just scratching the surface. His elite size will attract a lot of schools in the next few months. Currently, Mercer is his only other offer outside of Elon.

Colorado State, Coastal Carolina, and Middle Tennessee have offered Appalachian State commit Ryan Huff over the last week. The Blue Raiders offered the most recently, following his visit last Saturday to Murfreesboro. Upcoming visits for the class of 17 safety is App State on April 30 and Georgia Southern (his brother is a graduate) on May 7th.

Michael Adams is a rising senior out of Chattooga. West Virginia and a handful of Ivy League schools have offered recently, but expect SEC and ACC schools to jump on quickly. Word has it that Alabama and Florida contacted the 6’3″ 300-pound defensive tackle yesterday. Adams is a very fast player and has been working hard this offseason (squat video); he is also an excellent student athlete.

Zach Quinney continues to pick up Power 5 offers with Mississippi State being the latest.

Caleb Chandler came out with his Top 10 schools so far but does not plan to make a decision until after the football season. His top 10: Louisville, Miss State, Colorado State, Mizzou, Memphis, Iowa State, Maryland, Southern Miss, UTSA and ECU. We expect this list to be very fluid with the summer camp schedule looming.

Carver’s headhunting defensive back Quindarious Hale has been offered by Cincinnati, Kentucky and Auburn thus far. Hale let us know about a visit planned to Alabama this weekend – could they be his next SEC offer? Stay tuned.

Addison Shoup was offered by Tennessee Tech from the Ohio Valley Conference this afternoon. Tenn Tech is offer #2 for the Walton QB, who had an impressive junior campaign. Colgate offered last week.

DJ Brown a defensive back out of Creekside let us know that he will be attending Penn State’s Blue/White game this weekend. Brown has double digit Power 5 offers from schools all around the country. Update: Brown was offered by Miss State this afternoon.

Was really impressed with Elbert Co. defensive back Tay Huff’s film. He is a solid tackler and it looks like he had over 5 INT’s last fall as a sophomore. The northeast Georgia product should be a player to keep an eye on moving forward.

UGA linebacker commit Jaden Hunter was offered by Southern California yesterday.

Antwon Kincade out of Valdosta HS is a thumping rising senior safety from Valdosta HS who we were told to check out. Kincade is quick on run support and an extremely physical player. Very little yards gained after contact when Kincade makes a tackle. The Valdosta student-athlete has excellent size at 6’1″ 190 and has a 3.2 GPA. FILM

Karam Puckett, a class of 2017 athlete for Langston Hughes, was offered by Jacksonville State. A lot has been made of his teammate and fellow receiver Sean Nelson (rightfully so!) but Puckett has a nice set of wheels and decent slot receiver size at 5’11” 162. FILM

Big time class of 2018 defensive tackle Josh Walker plans to visit Tennessee this weekend for their spring game. Walker visited Florida and Bama during his spring game. The impressive young defensive tackle has offers from Tulane, Pittsburgh, Samford and Georgia Southern currently.

John Lampley from Kell and Luke Shiflett from Northwest Whitfield will showcasing theirs skills at the Gunslinger Challenge in Maryville, TN on April 23-24.

Nick Campbell was offered by Western Carolina. The Mill Creek rising senior is an impressive offensive guard visited WCU at the start of his break on April 2nd.

A pair of Lassiter defensive backs were offered by P5 schools over the last few days. Ty Hardimon was offered by West Virginia and Derrik Allen by the Florida Gators. The duo give Lassiter one of the best defensive backfields heading into next season.

Jeremiah Holloman was offered by Iowa State. The Newton receiver has way over 20 offers now and is one of the more highly coveted receivers in the southeast.

Another Newton player was offered on the 11th. Robert Black, a new safety transfer, was offered by Central Michigan.

Ole Miss is offer number one for rising junior Marquis Alston. The Harrison HS athlete has outstanding speed and balance, to go along with a nice set of hands at receiver. His ability to make cuts on a dime will surely grab the attention of many more Power 5 schools. FILM

Laperion Perry from LaGrange received his 10th scholarship, the latest being App State. The rising senior plays quarterback, but has elite quicks to make him an offensive weapon at the next level regardless of position.

Iowa State is offer #10 for Koby Cumberlander. The Roswell defensive end was one of the leaders in the state of Georgia in sacks with 16 last fall. People close to the Roswell program compare him to Von Miller and we think more Power 5 schools will offer sooner more than later.
