J’shawn Baker – OLB
Brooks Co.

#11 OUTSIDE LINEBACKER

HT: 6’2″
WT: 200
GPA: n/a
Class: 2021

Baker is a stringy prospect who got starters reps as a sophomore and continued to improve into this junior year. Got to see him live at the state title game against Dublin, and the first part that stands out about Baker is his lateral quickness. Very little doubt he plays hoops. He has long arms and does a nice job scraping off blocks. Baker has solid leverage due to ot length and he has an above-average motor getting into the backfield. The 2021 recruit got into the backfield a number of times where he made sacks just pursuing the QB like crazy. Good acceleration to the ball carrier. Baker has his hand in the ground at all times, and though he shows a natural skill set rushing the passer – he will have to play linebacker at the next level. He does look like a legit 6’2″. Plus considering his lateral quickness and ability to shed blocks, there is good upside for him to play OLB at the next level. Keeping track of his weight gain over the next year will be critical to his recruitment going forward. Baker might be 180 lbs., and has a ways to go both with skillset transitioning over to linebacker too. He is definitely a D1 caliber athlete at the end of the day.
