The Furman Paladins have swooped in late and earned the commitment of All-State running back Devin Wynn from Greene County. The ultra-athletic back, who played in Class A ball in Georgia, announced his commitment on Twitter:
Wynn is a great athlete who also held offers from Morehead State and Presybterian. He was the leading rusher for GHSA athletes in the state of Georgia with 2343 yards and 34 touchdowns on the season. Over the last two seasons, the star back totaled 4010 yards – a number no one else in the state has come close to.
Despite all those accolades the All-State running back went into the final month of recruitment with no offers, but in the last week his recruitment turned around. “It feels great, a stress reliever that came at a great time,” Wynn said about the recruiting process finally being over.
The talented back first heard from the Paladins in the spring but said they did not start to really talk until the end of his senior season. After going through the recruiting process Wynn has some advice to future recruits, “My advice would be to go to camps and get stars cause that’s all coaches care about now.”
Wynn led his Greene County squad to the quarterfinals before coming up short, but his efforts late in the season was nothing short of miraculous. Wynn was a workhorse for his squad, showing a great combination of power, balance, and speed. Over the last few games he carried the team on his back getting 200-300 yard games every Friday night.
Wynn is a great student-athlete in the classroom, boasting a 3.7 GPA and 22 on the ACT. He is joining a Paladin squad that is finishing strong in the state of Georgia, racking up a ton of local talent.
