Cade Leonard, a senior from Milton HS, committed to James Madison yesterday evening as a preferred walkon. The class of ’17 outside linebacker officially picked the Dukes when he tweeted:

Leonard (6’2″ 200) had visited James Madison recently and ultimately his connection with the staff concluded his recruitment. We asked the aggressive linebacker how it feels to be done with the recruiting process.

“It feels like a bit of a relief to know I’m going to be in the right place and all settled down now.”

Leonard has a lot of upside to earn a chance at a scholarship at James Madison if he continues to progress. He plays with his ears pinned back and does a good job of digesting the offensive play call and penetrating into the backfield.

The Milton senior has good height and should put on another 20-30 pounds to his frame when he gets to college. Leonard shows solid tackling skills and comes off the edge on run plays with urgency.

When asked about what advice he could give to future college recruits Leonard responded, “My future advice to other recruits is just to keep in contact with coaches and let them know you are here to play.”
