Dayton Wading in the Recruiting Waters

Heading into his senior year Dayton Wade had some good college offers, but over the course of this season, the 2019 wide receiver has proven to be one of the best pass-catchers in the state of Georgia with over 700 yards on just 29 catches and 5 touchdowns. Just last week the athletic wide receiver reached back on a pass down the middle and made a one-handed catch against Tucker that you would see from Odell Beckham Jr. or a Calvin Johnson highlight reel, let alone a high school senior’s. That catch was the #3 play for Week 7 in the state of Georgia.

Overall, Wade believes his senior has gone very well, and as the senior just said, “It’s about to get 10x better.”

Lovejoy has sent some dudes into D1 programs over the last few years, there several right now in Means and Rodgers, in fact. Both have several Power 5 programs after them, and Wade should have similar interest, honestly. If you take a moment to watch his midseason reel above you can quickly see why.

Wade has ball skills, some of the best in Georgia, and his outstanding coordination to time his jump is remarkable. Throw the ball in Wade’s area code, and he’s coming down with it.

Still, there are part to his game he still wants to work on. “I want to continue to improve on my routes and my explosiveness.” An appropriate response, and something we did mention in his offseason scouting report (which has now been revised this fall).

No doubt, Wade has made some major improvements in that department this fall adding 15 lbs of muscle over the last year.  He has a much more explosive step to his game getting more separation in man coverage. His elite hand-eye coordination really separates himself from so many recruits and route running is really coming along, too.

Right now, Wade has been hearing from Arkansas State, Georgia Southern, Troy and Tulane the most, but if he continues his strong senior campaign, we expect more colleges to jump on board. The senior is one of the more confident players in the state of Georgia. He has one goal to achieve this season and that’s to win a state championship. One thing is for sure, do not count Wade out, and expect him shooting up our Fall ’18 Rankings next month.
