Garner Webb Lands A Sleeper

Northview senior Alexander Ikoku committed to Gardner Webb yesterday evening. The athletic defensive end/linebacker announced on Twitter:

Ikoku choose the Gardner Webb Bulldogs over Presbyterian, FAMU, Murray State, Valparaiso & Morehead State.

When we first spoke with Ikoku back in early fall, he was still looking for his first offer, but after a strong senior season, he put together the film to garner FCS interest.

The Northview athlete is relatively new to the game of football, but Recruit Georgia thinks he has high potential to be an impact FCS football player.

He gained 21 pounds during the offseason last year and the big framed Northview defender should continue to pack on good weight once in college. He has a quick first step off the line of scrimmage and plays the game with 110% effort. Recruit Georgia would not be surprised to see him weighing over 260 pounds in the next few years.

Gardner Webb is landing a player with an outstanding work ethic and is a strong student-athlete with a 1700 SAT score. Ikoku joins Creekside athlete Tysean Carter as fellow Gardner Webb commits from Georgia.
