Tysean Carter, a quick slot back from Creekside HS, committed to Gardner Webb tonight.

He announced on Twitter: “God has sent many blessing my way, I’d like to give him all the glory. Also I’d like to give all the thanks to my family and friends who have supported me along the way. I’ve came to the conclusion that I will be verbally committing to Gardner-Webb University.”

Carter was offered by Gardner Webb on November 20th and was excited about his new offer from the Runnin’ Bulldogs. Less than a month later he decided the time had come to make his college decision.

Gardner Webb fans should expect a very versatile player joining their football team. Carter has very good hands at receiver and is a natural at high-pointing passes thrown his way. He is most impressive in open space, especially on kickoffs. Carter has an innate ability to set up his blocks, then explode through a hole. He consistently gave Creekside good field positioning. Offensively, Creekside used him as a slot receiver but also had him in the backfield on some read-option plays.

According to various recruiting sites, Carter is Gardner Webb’s first football commit for the 2016 recruiting class.
