Calhoun’s Versatile Junior Shines

A breakout player this season for Calhoun HS is the versatile athlete, Ryan Randall. The three sport star takes no breaks during the year, and even though his football season ended last Friday, Randall is back at it this Tuesday on the hardwood for Calhoun.

Ryan RandallRandall is the prime example of the high school student athlete, and does whatever his coaches ask of him. He plays and excels at the big three sports: football, basketball, and baseball.

This fall at Calhoun, Randall lead the Yellow Jackets in receptions and punt return yardage. The reliable wideout was second on the team in receiving yards, and does a great job of running his routes to get open. He also makes an impact on defense at safety, where he is a smart player over top.

Samford and Kennesaw State, two colleges that have actively recruited Randall for awhile, took in his final game last Friday. The junior receiver had a team-high 5 receptions in a 12-7 Semifinal loss to Blessed Trinity.

Randall has made prior visits to Samford and Kennesaw State this year, but his recruitment remains wide open. Additionally, Bucknell has expressed serious interest in the fleet-footed athlete.

The class of 2017 receiver does a great job of watching the ball into his hands. He makes very few body catches, has excellent footwork on his routes and has solid measurement for a high school junior. He is a smart punt returner, with great hands and makes precise cuts to get the most yards he can on every return. Over the last 6 months he has grown an inch (6′ 180-pounds) and should continue to fill out.

After the basketball season, Randall will jump right into baseball, where he is talented player on the diamond. During the week, he plans to continue his weekly weight room and agility sessions specifically for football.

Randall’s father told Recruit Georgia, “he plans on attending another showcase combine and football camps at Samford and Mercer this summer.”
