Westside’s Williams Paves His Way

Westside’s Julian Williams is our Week 2 Offensive Lineman of the Week. The powerful 6’2″ 275 lbs. senior out of Augusta has seen a good start to the year, producing at a high level and helping his team to an undefeated 2-0 start.

“My senior season has been going great so far we are 2-0. I’ve had two great games so far, great blocking, and look forward to another.”

In their 56-0 route for Glenn Hills in Week 2, Williams had several dominating blocks where he planted the defender impactfully into the ground. He rightfully earned the lineman of the week honors on the website with over 500 votes in just 24 hours.

With his team 2-0, and the senior playing his best football ever, anything is possible for Westside. Williams outlined a handful of goals for the rest of the year.

“My goals for the rest of the season are to be better at my position, be better for my team, get recruited, and get a regional championship plus state championship,” he said.

Credit to the hard work that Williams endured this offseason, where he focused on improving his knowledge and technique.

“My steps have improved so much better than last year. Also my football IQ at LT.”

Roll back the film to last year, and it is clear that Williams has major improvements to his game. He is more explosive coming out of his stance, getting a lot better leverage while engaged, and has a general nastiness while blocking.

“My mindset on the field when blocking is to make room for my running back and get pancakes,” he said.

Last year, he was part of a unit that was one of the rushing leaders in 2A, and that should prove to be the case once again. Westside’s next game is against Academy of Richmond Hill on September 6th, so they will get the weekend off.

Williams did provide a quick update on his recruitment.

“My recruiting has been going great; I have coaches contacting me, I had 3 game day visits, and I have 3 offers.”

The senior’s progression over the last year is among the best of any OL we have evaluated from the class of ’25, so we are sure that more programs will enter the picture. Williams has a good body type to be an offensive guard at the next level.

His fundamental improvement is noteworthy, and we are encouraged that his recruiting stock will continue to rise, so follow @RecruitGeorgia on Twitter/X to hear the latest on the senior and athletes across the state.
