Sleeper of the Day
Cooper Born
2025 Fannin Co.
Linebacker
Born was the team’s leading tackler as a junior with 107 with 6 tackles going for a loss on top of 3 forced fumbles. It was a productive year, the kind where an athlete builds into the next, and becomes an All-State caliber senior. The 6’1″ 215 lbs. Born is a weight-lifting maniac with some of the best metrics of any linebacker in his class. Those impactful tackles in space are translatable. He hits with force. Born’s pursuit after the ball carrier is a key factor in his production. You’ll see the Fannin County senior sprint 20-30-40 yards downfield to make a play on the ball carrier. Born has good speed to the football. We like his patience in reading the play, and keeping his pad level perpendicular to the LOS, Born can line up his tackle attempts with good impact and fundamentals. This might be my favorite part of his game, Born strikes consistently at the midsection of the ball carrier, and driving his legs through the attempt is relentless in doing so. As of now, Navy is showing the most recruiting interest, but with a 4.0 GPA, and the skill set to play both LB and LS, Born has the utility, hustle, and toughness to be a major contributor to a D1 program.
Commitments
DaMari Witherspoon
2025 East Paulding
Cincinnati
Witherspoon committed to the Bearcats on Tuesday. The senior has fully recovered from a junior-year leg injury that sidelined him but started to turn heads during the offseason. His recruitment regained velocity during the evaluation period and on June 13th Cincinnati offered. The 6’5″ 220 lbs. pass-catcher fluidly moves through his routes and looks comfortable accelerating out of his breaks. Witherspoon provides a lot of versatility, speed, and size for the Bearcats. A few years from now, his commitment could end up being a steal.

The AJC/GHSF Daily had 0-2 Commerce preseason #2 in their D1 rankings, and they can take a sigh of relief knowing that star senior athlete Jaiden Daniels will be making his first start of the season. The added caveat for this season, Daniels will be under center playing the QB position, which could prove to be a game-changer. Commerce will face off against Luella this Friday, who is a tough opponent coming off a big 18-13 win over Carver-Atlanta. Daniels is dynamic with the football, and this position switch harkens back to when we saw Ladd McConkey move over to QB to help North Murray to their best season in school history. For Daniels and the Commerce community, expectations will be high for the All-Stater.
I’ll be making my 1st start of the season on Friday. I’m back and ready for some action!!!
