Three In-State Offers for Barron

Explosive defensive lineman prospect Jayden Barron has certainly garnered attention from local in-state schools. Today, the 6’2″ 255-pound athlete earned an offer from Georgia Southern, which follows up offers from Mercer and Georgia State this offseason.

The 2018 recruit has received two offers now in the last three days (Mercer April 22nd). He has been working hard this offseason, and while other recruits visited colleges or the beach during Spring Break, Barron was working hard to improve his game.

If you watch the athletic lineman’s film, you will see why the three in-state schools appear to be so interested. Barron is built like a brick house, using his mass to bull rush his way through the line of scrimmage. He has really aggressive hands, which allows him to get off blocks quickly, and make a stop in the backfield.

Georgia State was the first school to offer Barron back in February. He has visited the schools twice in March with his family, and it’s safe to say the Panthers have made an early impact on his recruitment.

Barron could potentially grow into a DT at the next level, but right now we are projecting him as a strongside defensive end. His ability to run across the line of scrimmage and string out plays to the sideline is a testament to his lateral quickness, and an attribute that separates himself from other 2018 DL recruits with similar frames.

Barron currently sports a 3.3 GPA and has impressive weight lifting measurements to boot (Profile). We expect more incoming offers in the next few weeks, so do not be surprised to see the Upson-Lee rising senior with double digit offers by the time summer break hits.
