Summer Update for Winston Wright

Class of 2019 athlete Winston Wright caught up with Recruit Georgia to talk about how his summer is going and how he has progressed.

He’s been working hard in the weight room, even putting in work late in the evening on the 4th of July. He has gained seven pounds since we made his profile back in May. “I’ve grown during the offseason, I weigh 162 now,” Wright said.

winston wrightWright also expects to be used all over the field this upcoming season after primarily playing corner last fall as a freshman for Memorial Day School in Savannah. “I’ve moved to corner to cover and run support this year, also a little action at safety against physical teams. Also I’m starting at QB on offense, but still playing all over the ball on O too.”

Camp season has been a grind but something the Class of ’19 prospect has enjoyed, especially hearing from various colleges. “Camp season has gone well, getting a lot of love from a lot of D1 coaches such as: South Carolina, Ohio, Georgia, Georgia Southern, and a lot of (schools) also such as: Mercer, and Valdosta State.”

Wright will be busy this fall learning an offensive playbook and helping Memorial Day defend its GISA Class AA state title but has plans to visit Valdosta State for an unofficial visit.

The versatile athlete has very impressive quickness running a 4.08 shuttle time and looks to be a ball magnet on the field. He is especially impressive breaking on the pass, but admittedly we would like to see more film. This upcoming fall looks like a perfect opportunity for Wright to begin grabbing the attention of more college coaches with much-needed film to be evaluated.
