Over the last two seasons, Logan Inagawa and Lincoln DeLaere have been a formidable connection for Class 4A to contain. The 2025 prospects have grown through the Starr’s Mill system, creating memorable highlights that span through the years.
Against Central-Carrollton, the two Starr’s Mill products seemingly play their best football. In last season’s quarterfinals matchup, the two connected for a game-winning touchdown as time expired where DeLaere made an insane catch. In retrospect, that was probably the top play from 2023. Lightening does strike twice, and last week against Central, they hit another 50-yard bomb. Inagawa heaved a perfect pass towards a leaping DeLaere, who made the catch over two defenders to tie the game up and would later win 38-35.
The incredible pitch and catch earned a spot on the plays of the week, and was later voted the number one play. The season has been great so far with Starr’s Mill undefeated, and playing some of the best football in program history.
“It’s hard to believe we are already seven games into the season. I’m trying to soak it all in and enjoy every moment,” Inagawa said.
DeLaere added, “it’s been amazing, definitely having the most fun I’ve ever had playing football.”
Among QB-to-WR duos in 4A, Inagawa to DeLaere is among the most efficient. Their connection, especially on the deep ball, has the team pulling out unfathomable conversions.
“We’ve built the deep ball connection by putting in the work, through time and repetition. I have been throwing to Lincoln since the 8th grade. We go out on Sundays and run routes all off-season. We also played on the same 7v7 team this past summer. All of the time we have put in has definitely paid off,” Inagawa said.
DeLaere agreed, “I think us spending a lot of time in the offseason with some of our other guys has always helped.”
Playing in a balanced offense that prioritizes controlling the football, Inagawa has totaled 1151 yards and has thrown 13 touchdowns while also rushing for another seven. He is completing 67% of his passes, which considering their penchant for the deep ball, is impressive. DeLaere has caught 453 yards and another 4 scores on the year, which leads all Starr’s Mill receivers and makes him the unquestioned top target.
Class 4A is stacked with competition, perhaps the deepest ever, and this win against Central-Carrollton was huge for Starr’s Mill. The undefeated season stays intact and establishes itself as a program to reckon with come playoff time. We asked what this win meant for the program.
“I definitely think the Central-Carollton game was huge, on offense we were making plays and our defense got us stops that ended up winning the game,” DeLaere said.
On the recruiting front, DeLaere said that he doesn’t have any offers yet but is talking with some coaches and hopeful a few will land soon. For Inagawa, he provided a quick update.
“This past February, I received an offer from Navy. I have also received offers from other great academic schools, including Amherst and Carnegie Mellon. I am in contact with several schools, and I am scheduling visits now.”
There will be no rest, and this Friday, the two will match up against 6-1 Harris County, a physical program looking for a fight in the trenches. They have the inside track to be region champs, plus a whole lot more on the line come playoffs, so be sure to follow @RecruitGeorgia on Twitter/X to hear the latest on Ingawa and DeLaere plus athletes all around the state.
