Jae Lamar had about 250 all-purpose yards last week in a huge 38-35 win against rival Lowndes. He ran for 182 yards and also caught a short pass out to the flat where he spun out of a tackle, then showed elite acceleration out to the sideline where he flew by the pursuit for a 77-yard score.
That play was selected to be the GHSF Daily Play of the Day on Monday, and his great performance in a critical region win earned him a spot as one of the top performers in the state. Lamar was voted to be the Player of the Week on the website, which typified a great last month of football and recruiting news.
“Junior year is going as planned! I have 58 carries for 575 yards, and I didn’t play last year, but it all feels amazing,” Lamar said.
With Lamar becoming the premier running back at Colquitt County, they are quickly capitalizing on 6′ 205 lbs. athletes’ elite playmaking. Last week’s excellent performance against Lowndes should be the beginning, and we suspect the 2nd half of the season will be captivating.
College programs have noticed, and Lamar is becoming one of the most coveted prospects in his recruiting class. Georgia State offered in late August and then a slew of P4 programs followed with programs like Auburn, UGA, Mizzou, Ole Miss, and NC State jumping into the fold.
“I am starting to catch everyone’s eyes game by game and I am working on becoming the best back in class of ’26,” he said.
Lamar has gained about 15 lbs. since last year, and his incredible size and speed combination will only continue to attract colleges’ attention. He is explosive coming out of his cuts, shows soft hands making catches out of the backfield, and honestly, his junior film looks to be the best in his recruiting class, so far.
Lamar plays like Dameon Pierce, the all-time great running back from Bainbridge, who is now in the NFL. Pierce was a coveted prospect, and that looks to be the same for Lamar. He doesn’t have any college visits planned yet but that surely will change, so be sure to follow @RecruitGeorgia on Twitter/X to hear the latest on the dynamic junior and athletes all across Georgia.
