Michigan State dipped down into Georgia and was the first school to offer edge pass-rusher Royce Francis out of Allatoona High School. The rising senior has had a quiet recruitment up until this point, but with his first offer now out of the way, the proverbial recruiting snowball might begin to roll.
Francis came on strong towards the end of last season, having his biggest games against tough competition, where he squared off against legit FBS recruits. He was especially dominant in the first round of the playoffs against Lanier, where he practically lived in the backfield.
The 2018 recruit has a relentless motor and strong hands to free himself from blocks to get after the ball carrier. He reads the play quickly, and takes smart angles on his tackle attempts, which explains his high tackle numbers (76 tackles) for a defensive end.
Over the last two months, Francis has taken visits to Charlotte, Liberty, Wake Forest and Georgia Tech. Francis looks to make a return trip to Georgia Tech in May and outside of that his schedule is open for visits. Well-done Royce and this was absolutely deserved. I coach Francis when he was 10 years-old and he was always a big contributor! I look forward to watching you play on Saturdays and Congrats!
