Sleeper Nelson Seeing Recruitment Spark

Arabia Mountain rising senior Justin Nelson is a physical cover corner who has seen his recruitment start to heat up as we enter the summer camp season. The 2018 corner has 6 offers with most of his interest coming from regional schools and the military academy schools but with a strong camp showing, his recruitment could generate new FBS interest.

Nelson, who sports a 3.2 GPA and a 19 on the ACT, was an impact player last year on an Arabia team that was one of the true surprise teams last fall. In today’s pass-happy game, Georgia high school football players like Nelson are instrumental at locking down his side of the field, and we think he should see plenty of success at the next FBS level.

At 5’11”, and 176 pounds, Nelson is right at the average measurements for a cornerback recruit but appears to have an above average wing span. The massive radius he can cover allows him to break up passes and he also shows good quickness in the hips. Last season he could have had way over 5 interceptions but looks to have finished with around 4 – if he finished off a few more of those he could have been one of the state’s leaders.

Southern Illinois offered the other night, and we really think the 2018 CB will see additional interest from local FCS/FBS programs in the next few weeks. Nelson said that he plans to camp at Georgia State, West Georgia and Lagrange in the month of June and is hopeful to make it out to West Virginia as well. Interested in recruiting Justin Nelson?
