Shakur Brown Commits to West Virginia

MORE COMMITMENT NEWS

Shakur Brown, a ball-hawking cornerback from Woodland-Stockbridge, committed to West Virginia last night. The uber athletic senior announced his official commitment when he tweeted:

The Woodland cornerback broke onto the recruiting scene last May after basically being bum-rushed with offers. West Virginia was one of the first Power 5 schools to offer on May 12th soon after we made a highlight video featuring the athletic CB making an unbelievable 95-yard interception.

Coach Blue Adams, a longtime follower on Twitter, took the point as the lead recruiter for Brown and sold him on the rich tradition of defensive back talent coming out of Morgantown.

Adams came in for an in-home visit on January 12th where the two continued to build their relationship. Brown took an official visit the following weekend, where his family got to see the facilities up close and meet more of the West Virginia coaching staff.

With Brown’s commitment last night, West Virginia is receiving a player with elite speed and athleticism. He chose West Virginia over offers from Power 5 schools like Tennessee, Florida, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Pittsburgh and Kentucky. Brown is one of the best return men in the entire state of Georgia and is capable of taking it to the house at any moment.

It is worth noting that the 3-star cornerback has maintained that his recruitment is still open at this time. He is the 20th commit to West Virginia and the third from the state of Georgia.
