Sergio Mason Turns OL into Spagetti

In his first year of high school football, Sergio Mason made a name for himself. Going from hoops to the gridiron is no easy test, but the transition was seamless for the 2026 defensive lineman.

The Stephenson staff was elated about his production last fall and contacted us before the season even finished raving about their star defensive lineman. Mason had 87 tackles, 33.5 tackles for a loss, and 7.5 sacks along with 6 force fumbles with several ending up with Mason crossing the endzone.

To put it succinctly, Mason dominated the trenches in 2024 and his efforts earned him All-State honors in 3A.

The offseason is well underway and the junior defensive lineman now has offers from FIU, WKU, and Miami-OH. We asked him what visits he had planned for the next few weeks.

“Yes sir. We will do FIU next Thursday and Coastal on the 5th my invite to the UA Series in Charlotte is on the 6th, so I’m fired up. I also had a spring two days ago at the University of Florida,” Mason said.

Expectations are ramping up for Mason. The UA Series is one we feel like he can shine. The 2026 defender is a shade above 6′, but shows incredible speed for a 265 lbs. athlete. Watching him gun down ball carriers from the backside, and he routinely created fumbles last fall.

For the upcoming season, Mason has several plans beyond just making All-State.

“I gotta win defensive player of the year this season. First-year playing during last season, so I understand more now, so I’m definitely going to play faster.”

There is a lot of time between the 2025 season and now. On the recruiting front, our hunch is that Mason will see his D1 offer list exceed double-digits by the summertime, so be sure to follow @RecruitGeorgia on Twitter/X to hear the latest on Mason and athletes all across the state of Georgia.
