Sleeper of the Day
Gary Borders III
2026 Rockdale Co.
Defensive Back
Borders was the sole All-State selection on the site out of Rockdale County in 2024. The 6A standout defender has been tested against top-flight talent throughout his varsity career. At around 6’2″ or 6’1″, the aggressive defensive back reads the field well and gets a good early jump on the play. Borders is instinctive against the run. He plays the pursuit angles well, which led to several big-time tackles; one that was even in consideration for play of the week last fall. Borders’ top-end acceleration and willingness to square up his tackle attempts and run through the ball carrier is impressive. At around 170 lbs., that level of physicality makes it even more noteworthy. He is patient reading the play, moving well laterally and keeping his pads parallel to the LOS, which allows for some clean tackles in space. Borders is sold in coverage, dropping back and flipping his hips, but would like to see him continue to make an impact in pass coverage. With his length, Borders’ breakup radius should be able to create more PBUs and that’s an area to focus on this offseason. Ideally, Borders should fill out his frame to at least 190 lbs, and considering his skill set as of now, strong safety seems to be the most natural. As of now, Borders has offers from EKU and Bryant University, but with the evaluation period kicking up, that number should multiply, so stay tuned.

Three ‘n Out
All-State safety Max Steve has been on a recruiting tour this month visiting Harvard, Wofford, and over the weekend at Gardner Webb and Davidson. The hard-hitting safety had 138 tackles on the season helping his team to the Class 3A-A Private State Championship, which was Hebron Christian’s first-ever. Steve is a consummate student sporting a 4.57 GPA which translates over to the field where adeptly shades in the direction of the play positioning himself to make impactful plays. High-academic programs are filling out their recruiting boards right now, so how the process shakes out will be worth following, but regardless, Steve should be moving up. He is a D1-caliber student-athlete.
Had an awesome time at Davidson checking out spring practice and touring their top-tier facilities. Appreciate the invite, @DSGBCoachCam.@CoachKDallas @jonathan_gess @Danny__mejia @Terrencemelton @Coach_Thakkar @RecruitGeorgia @HebronLionsFB @DavidsonFB pic.twitter.com/WHgVfMKyWD

Brookwood junior transparently shared his visit with Penn over the weekend. The powerful linebacker who is quite articulate and profound with his thoughts online shared how the visit went. He stands around 6’2″ and 205 lbs., holding offers currently from USF, UPenn, Cornell, Brown, and Dartmouth. Diggs made All-State honorable mention on the site and his profile was recently made last week. He is an explosive 2026 prospect with a 10’7″ broad jump and should see his offers jump to double digits in the coming months.
It’s a little late but I was trying to get the full Philly experience in 48hrs this weekend. I want to say thank you to @CoachDupont @CoachForeman42 & @PennFB for having me out for Junior Day and spring practice. The opportunity to play football at the D1 level at a top 10… pic.twitter.com/FzcTQ9AnG4

Forsyth Central junior running back Max Haertel had a great weekend on the track running a 10.96 100m time, won first in the 4×1 and his 22.18 200m 200m time broke the school record. Last season, the All-Region athlete had 10 rushing touchdowns, a couple of interceptions returned, and a punt return; giving him a total of 13 touchdowns. The resounding theme? Electric top-end speed where the 2026 athlete squares his shoulders upfield, digs up turf, and flies by the pursuit like they are running in sand. The 6′ 200 lbs. student-athlete has a rock-solid 3.6 GPA. We are convinced more D1 programs will soon throw their hat into his recruitment.
Amazing day at county championships broke 11 in the 100 10.96. First in the 4×1 and broke the school record in the 200 with a 22.18 @FCHS_Bulldog_TF @Uncommon_Coach @fchs_bulldogs @Bulldogs_FB pic.twitter.com/839dFHIWdS
