Bryson Hughley is a 6’3″ 180 lbs. two-sport star out of Peach County who is set to turn FBS scouts heads during the evaluation period. The junior defensive back already has 16 D1 offers under his belt, including one from Yale last week, and spoke to us about upcoming visits.
“The school visits are going great. I visited Duke this past weekend and I’m going to Appalachian State this weekend,” Hughley said.
On the Duke visit, Hughley went with his cousin, Kharim Hughley, who started at QB for Gainesville during his sophomore year. They have yet to offer but are among the top of P4 suitors.
Appalachian State is one program that has consistently stood out for the 2026 athlete. Maybe it’s the school colors matching Peach County’s uniforms, but ever since his January 21st offer, the Mountaineers have laid the groundwork to be a leader in his recruitment.
The connection with the App State staff will be huge in getting his commitment, but several P4 programs continue to hang around. The aforementioned Duke is already in the picture, but also, Miss State and Minnesota have both expressed recent interest. Those programs listed above along with Air Force and East Carolina are the top schools so far for Hughley.
A strong showing during the spring evaluation period, and the junior will be shooting to the top of colleges’ recruiting boards. Considering his 6’3″ frame, and his translatable skills from basketball, Hughley is the type of high-upside prospect who could grow into an impact safety at the next level.
At Peach County, spring practice starts on April 30th, and is finalized with a spring game against Westside-Macon on May 16th at 7 pm. Whether Hughley is still uncommitted is a good question, but regardless, we’ll be covering his recruitment, every step of the way, along with football players across the state, so be sure to follow @RecruitGeorgia on Twiter/X to hear the latest Georgia HS football recruiting news.
