Sensational Sophomore Making Waves




 

Greggory Rodgers’ II recruiting process is young, but he certainly doesn’t lack the attention and rightfully so. The sophomore outside linebacker from Grovetown, has a nose for the ball and is an outstanding athlete.

Even though he played about 50% of the snaps this season, Rodgers totaled 75 tackles and had a defensive score off an interception. Rodgers made 2nd Team All-County for his efforts.

Greggory RodgersNext year, Rodgers should take another big jump in his development on the defensive side of the ball and do not be surprised if he sees some snaps on offense. The talented class of 18 player is a workout warrior. He does strength and agility both twice a week with ex-NFL player and GT alumni Sam Lilly.

Rodgers talked about himself as a person: “I would consider myself a discipline person on and off the field. “

The athletic underclassman is a great student of the game but an even better student in the classroom. “I currently have a 4.0 CORE GPA, A/B Honor Roll and a member of the National Honor Society. I love to get after it in the classroom. It provides me with a sense of accomplishment, which I will continue to strive for.”

Rodgers plans to be a leader going forward for his Grovetown team. He is passionate about the game and competing each day to be the best he can.

“I love the game of football, more importantly I enjoy the daily grind and competition. I will be a leader from day one, once I step foot on campus as a young student athlete. I think what sets me apart from other recruits is that I am willing to do whatever it takes to be the best that I can be. I take pride in that. I get that drive from my parents.”

Rodgers’ parents are very successful in their lives and you can tell their achievements inspire the gridiron star. “My dad retired after 28 years in the Army as a Brigade Command Sergeant Major. My mom has worked as an IT Supervisor for the Department of Defense for 18 years.”

Over 20 schools have shown interest in the 6′ 200-pound linebacker who runs a 4.7 40 time. TCU, Georgia State, Georgia Tech, Kansas, Illinois, Georgia Southern and more FBS schools have expressed serious interest in the sure-tackling Rodgers.

Rodgers is also a top wrestler in his region and has a 32-5 record this season. He was selected in 2014 to be on the 2014 USA Football 17 Under National Development Team as an incoming Freshman.
