Rome Offense Set to Flow with Fountain

Last year, Reece Fountain was among the most productive and efficient QBs in the state of Georgia. The class of ’24 quarterback had defenses on their toes throwing for 3100 yards, and 28 touchdowns while also completing 75% of his 292 attempts.

Heading into his senior year, Fountain believes that last year’s production is just scratching at the surface of his potential.

“My goals are to win every game, be state champions, earn 1st team All-State in 6A, complete 75% of my passes, and throw for 5,000 yards,” Fountain listed off.

Those are some huge goals to attain, but with offensive talents like senior receivers DK Daniel and Nic Hester, Fountain is sure to shred through defensive secondaries with his surgical precision.

One aspect of Fountain’s game where he believes has made the most strides is his strength.

“I am improved the most in my size. I am at 188 now. I weighed 189 this morning. My arm strength is my #1 asset,” he said.

Fountain is one of the best intermediate throwers in the state of Georgia. The 2024 prospect has an innate ability to lead his receiver while placing throws in tight coverage.

On the recruiting front, Fountain holds offers from Georgia Southern, Samford, Wofford, Jax State, and SEMO. Several more D1 programs are showing interest in Fountain, but as of now, the 2024 QB appears to be underrated.

As for the lofty goal of making All-State? No doubt, Fountain will have his work cut out. Prentiss Noland returns to Hughes after winning the 6A title last year, Antwann Hill out of Houston County put up huge numbers in ’22 and Baxter Wright out of Gainesville is an offensive engine in his own right.

Fountain though, has moxie. The type of player who sticks in the pocket while it is collapsing, and converts the key first downs. For the last few seasons, we have seen Fountain lead his team, and with a lot of talent back at Rome this fall, Fountain & Co. are prime for a run to a 6A state title.
