Frates is fresh off a wrestling state title for his weight class in Class A. The 6’3″ 223 lbs. OLB has added 15 lbs. since April even, so he is packing on the weight quickly. I definitely get some h-back tight end vibes when watching Frates playing on offense, but overall we like his potential more as an edge defender. He has pretty good coordination hauling in a pass. Definitely a legit frame here. Very willing blocker, that was expect with his wrestling background though. Senior year so far we are seeing him playing a lot more on defense – that is his best upside at the next level we think. Super interesting prospect in terms of athleticism. Want to continue to watch his senior film, but this young man has some legit athletic gifts, just needs to put it together on the field.
