Sleeper of the Day
Wayne Austell
2025 Camden Co.
Outside Linebacker
The long 2025 edge defender has good closing speed, so Camden County often uses him to blitz off the edge or try to shoot the gaps. Austell is very physical at the point of attack, impressively so for a player weighing under 200 lbs. He plays well in space, using his size and length to shred through perimeter blocking for screen passes out to the flat. That will translate really well at the next level. These characteristics should create a lot of value for Austell. A long versatile defender who plays with a lot of physicality, but maybe his best attribute is the backside tackles he makes. Several negative plays are created through outright hustle, and those kinds of plays are drive killers. Austell is a well-coached defender, he plays with a lot of patience reading the play and is effective at reading the mesh off the edge. Makes consistently good reads in that respect. As of now, Austell is one of the bigger sleepers in the class of ’25; his skill set just translates so well to the next level. We just want to see the 2025 outside linebacker continue to fill out his frame and increase his productivity against passes out to the sideline. Austell saw a small boost to his recruitment during the evaluation period with Valpo and Bethune-Cookman offers. He goes into the 2024 season as one of the more slept-on prospects in this recruiting class; despite playing on a great defense.
Commitments
Lagonza Hayward
2025 Toombs Co.
Tennessee
The explosive quick-twitch athlete was among the top two-way players in 2A last year. The All-State athlete has bulked up over the offseason and is now listed at 6’1″ 200 lbs. He provides a big safety for Tennesee with excellent ball skills.
Xavier Griffin
2026 Gainesville
USC
The speedy outside linebacker prospect was a menace off the edge for Gainesville in 2023. At 6’4″ and 210 lbs., Griffin has the frame and explosiveness to become an elite pass-rusher at the next level, but he also shows elite quickness which could allow him to play a more traditional linebacker role. USC earns a commitment from one of the most versatile defenders in his class.
Sekou Peters
2025 Westlake
Western Kentucky
Peters is a 6’3″ 250 lbs. lineman out of Westlake who plays with strength at the point of attack. He is proficient at using his hands, getting underneath the pads of the blocker, and bullrushing into the backfield. WKU is landing a battled-tested defender going up against some of the top competition in the state.
Jeremiah Ticket
2025 Jonesboro
Toledo
Big Ticket has an excellent motor to the football and shows great activity with his hands. Jonesboro has an explosive team, so a player like Ticket who knows his role, maintains good lane integrity while pursuing the ball carrier. If Ticket continues to progress at this current rate, then he will be a steal for Toledo.
Jontavius Wyman
2026 Jonesboro
Georgia
The All-State sophomore was a turnover machine for Jonesboro last year and is the type of player who could truly make an impact on either side of the football. It’s hard not to watch Wyman, and see shades of Nathaniel Wiggins from 4 years ago out of Westlake. He has that ‘it’ factor in his game. Great pick-up for UGA.
Tre Winters
2025 Adairsville
Air Force
Winters uses every inch of his 6’5″ frame to go up and attack the football in a jump-ball scenario. With a background in basketball, Winters does a great job of high-pointing the football. He is a great fit at Air Force, where his length and huge frame will be an asset both in the passing game, but also, as a perimeter blocker.

Class of ’26 offensive lineman Kail Ellis just broke the Cass power clean record at 320 lbs. Many recruiting services regard Ellis as among the country’s best center prospects and is currently committed to Auburn. With plenty more time in the weight room before graduation, Ellis should continue to add to these record-breaking weight-lifting numbers.

5-Star defensive lineman Elijah Griffin announced his final 3 teams which include Miami, Southern Cal, and Georgia. The Savannah Christian defensive tackle stepped onto the scene as a freshman and has been one of the most productive players in the state ever since. He is a 2x All-State selection on the website and will be a bonafide star at the college level.
I Thank God for moments like these!!!

New Mount Vernon football coach Terrence Edwards took his senior class out to go bowling and get some eats on Friday night. Edwards was incredibly successful as the pass-game coordinator and receivers coach at Milton the last few years and helped the Eagles to another state title in 2023. Mount Vernon has been a pass-happy program over the years, so the fit should be seamless. Mount Vernon is a program we’ll be watching closely week-to-week.
Senior Retreat is rocking and rolling.
