Three Heating Up

Sirad Bryant
2021 Crisp Co.

Bryant just came out with his top 5 on June 7 which included Ole Miss, GT, Nebraska, USF and Kansas (2/5 being subscribers here), but yesterday a pretty big offer came in by way of Tennessee. There is no secret that new OLB coach over at Tennessee is Shelton Felton, someone who is heavily respected in the state, but also the former coach at Crisp County. Not only did Bryant receive an offer, but his teammate Christopher Paul also earned one. Paul is currently committed to Nebraska. So what am I getting at? The Vols are obviously parlaying their relationship here into a package deal for the Crisp defensive duo – will it pay off? I don’t know but it is certainly worth monitoring.

Cody Bradford
2021 Flowery Branch

I’m convinced if there was a camp season right now that Bradford would have more FCS offers at the very least, but that’s not our reality. The 2021 offensive linemen received recent offers from Bryant, Pikeville, Presbyterian, and Morehead State here in the last 60 days. There is no doubt that more offers are on the way. Bradford is an excellent run blocker, has solid size at 6’3″ 270 lbs. to play either OG or C at the next level – plus he has a 3.6 GPA. His recruitment has a spark to it soon, and he could be on fire with D1 & D2 offers.

Ryan Young
2021 Brookwood

With Marist and Charleston Southern now under his offer belt, Young is starting to get the FCS attention that we predicted. The mauling Brookwood offensive linemen showed really good promise as a junior, but it’s his offseason work ethic that is separating him from the pack. Young is a non-stop competitor who should continue to grab college interest, and if he makes a jump this early 2020 season, there should be a good list of colleges going after him. Fordham, Lehigh and Kennesaw State appear to have heavy interest as well.

Sleeper of the Day

Nicholas Claypole
2021 Lanier

Claypole sets up his feet quickly out his stance and takes on the defender with a strong base. He has solid core strength and moves feet well with the defender. Does a solid job in pass protection – kick-step is pretty good. Nice leg drive while blocking and uses hands well. Very good hand placement. Would like to see him get quicker with his feet and work on flexibility. Definitely like what I’m seeing on film here. Claypole does a good job of sealing off his block and continues to drive the defender until they are on the ground. He could be more efficient with his finishing though, and he does lose balance at times. Continuing to get quicker with his feet should probably be the top priority. Claypole is probably a G or C at the next level. If he got a little quicker I would think center is a perfect match. Overall, I like Claypole, he seems like a high-character player too, and should be a welcomed addition to any college campus. Weight lifting numbers are very good, the 365 PC is near the tops of OL at his size and combine with his squat, shows how strong he is in the lower body. The 3 year starter is still looking for his first offer.
