Recruiting Recap 5/7

Welcome to another edition of the Recruiting Recap! Here we tally up all of yesterday’s offers, three players who are starting to heat up and of course our sleeper of the day.

As always, this feature is meant to help captivate the attention of college coaches around the country, but if you want more detailed information from a NCAA compliant source please contact recruitgeorgia1@gmail.com.

I hope every is continuing to stay safe during the pandemic. Admittedly, I have noticed that more players are working out in large groups, which in my opinion, is a bad idea, so we will not be retweeting or advocating any type of activity.

Look out for more profiles posting tonight!

Three Heating Up

Jacurri Brown
2022 Lowndes

The Lowndes 2022 recruit led his team to the state title game last year playing efficient football and mostly hurting teams with his legs. This offseason though, he’s been working his tail off as a passer, and for most dual threats, we see the biggest jump in their passing from sophomore to junior year. Brown has been on a small recruiting tear here landing offers from Florida & Tennessee in the last few days. Nebraska also offered early in April. Overall, Brown is one of the top dual threat options in the southeast, and his offer total should be well over 30 by this time a year from now.

Adam Hopkins
2023 Thomas Co. Central

The blow up is about to be very real here. Hopkins has received offers from Tennessee and Florida State in the last few days. He already held offers from Georgia and Georgia Tech, which came in at the start of the year. The rangy 6′ athlete is an explosive player and did well last year under TCC revamped offense where they are definitely passing the football a lot more. He does not move like a freshman, and consistently pulls away from defenders on film. Incredible hands and concentration too, Hopkins looks to be one of the top young athletes in his class and should really blow up with offers here in the month of May.

Kris Burress
2021 Lanier

Burress is a big-hitter with nice ball skills at the safety spot. His recruitment has been a slow burn, but over the last few weeks is starting to catch on fire. Just yesterday he landed three D1 offers. They follow up more FBS offers from Buffalo, Charlotte, Air Force and Georgia Southern. In our opinion, he is a no-doubt FBS caliber defensive back with excellent size at 6’1″ and just good instincts reading the play. His older brother was a solid FBS recruit and we expect much the same as we start to head into the meat of May. Burress recruitment should really heat up from here on out.

Sleeper of the Day

Logan Johnson
2021 Prince Ave

Johnson has exceptional body control, he can contort his body and make a play on the football that is just unique. He makes the catch more times than not, and will put his body on the line in order to do so. As a route runner, he is very tough to guard. You see his 4 shuttle time go to work, and he can just turn a defensive back completely around using his quick feet, and being deceptive with his route running. Johnson is a good punt returner too, he makes quick decisions and gets up field quickly. Has become a pretty good threat returning punts and has sent several back for scores his sophomore and junior year. Johnson is exclusively used as a slot receiver on offense, and a lot of targets on bubble screens. His junior year he has right over 1600 all-purpose yards. Going against one of the best teams in the lower classifications in ELCA Johnson played his best HS football game with over 200 yards of offense, several touchdowns and did it in the clutch during the 2nd round of the playoffs. There is no question that Johnson is one of the shortest D1 prospects in the state, but rest assured, he is a legit D1 recruit. We have seen him absolutely BBQ recruits with FBS offers on film and during the offseason. Colleges are getting caught up with his height, but his elite quickness, change of direction and route running is unique.
