Welcome to another edition of the Recruiting Recap! I hope everyone had a good Memorial Day weekend – spent time with close ones while also keeping the troops who fought for our freedom close your heart as well.
We will be tallying up the commits and offers from last weekend to go along with three recruits heating up and our sleeper of the day. Any college interested in extra recruiting info please contact recruitgeorgia1@gmail.com.
Also, today is my b-day, and after posting this on Twitter I’ll be completely off the internet for the remainder of the day. No retweets, no messages, and no tweets. Just a complete internet free day – a cyber vacation if you will. So thanks for those who checkout today’s recap!

Three Heating Up
Rashod Dubinion
2022 Cedar Grove
One of the best two-way athletes in this recruiting class, the long springy Dubinion has the versatility and ball skills to play on either side of the ball. At 5’10” and 180 lbs. he definitely has a long angular type body with explosive change of direction. The last month the class of 2022 athlete has received offers from Florida State, East Carolina, Ole Miss and Pittsburgh.
Jacob Merrifield
2021 Winder-Barrow
I’m trying to tell you guys that Jacob Merrifield is the real deal. You cannot teach his motor and natural feel in the trenches. At 6’2″ 275 lbs. he is a bull in the middle, and now more FBS programs are taking notice. Coastal Carolina, FAU, Rice, Tulane have all offered Merrifield consecutively here in the last few weeks. It’s only a matter of time before more start to offer – Merrifield is a no-doubt FBS prospect in our book.
Kanye Varner
2022 Jonesboro
Varner has only received and offer from East Carolina, so his recruitment has not truly heated up much here, but there is some kindling to start a raging fire. The 6’3″ 260 lbs. defensive linemen has a big time motor and lightening-quick for his frame. There is little doubt that he is a P5 recruit, and his offers should reflect that shortly.
Sleeper of the Day
Wesley Bentley
2021 Upson-Lee
Bentley does a solid job of playing with his hands getting a good initial push that allows him to knock the offensive lineman off balance. Already at 250 lbs., Bentley could very well be a DT at the next level granted he carries his weight very well. Had himself a very good junior season here and even showed the quickness playing out in space too at OLB, which is unique for a player at 250 in HS ball. Bentley’s versatility is eye-catching and he has the ability to play in multiple defensive fronts at even different positions at the next level. Finished off the 2019 season with 55 tackles, 19 tackles for a loss and 9 sacks. Right now, he has offers from Samford, Kentucky Wesleyan and Southern Illinois, but in my opinion, he should have a whole lot more offers here. Bentley is a unique defender with a lot of positional versatility to fill out spots in different alignments, which should be held at a premium.
