PROSPECT FORM

Sleeper of the Day

Jayden Futrell
2026 Harlem
Wide Receiver

The Harlem 2026 athlete was a big play waiting to happen last year. With a legit frame while showing an explosive upfield burst, Futrell is an enticing athlete at first glance of his film. He has wide shoulders and long arms, so he can excel as an X at the next level while also showcasing the natural tools as a defender. That kind of versatility alone, besides his excellent athleticism, should attract D1 schools. This isn’t usually the case. Most prospects figure to shine at one spot at the next level; Futrell is a different prospect. His ability to gauge the pass, flip his hips, and attack the football is impactful on either side of the football. His length and tenacity at safety allow Futrell to rake out passes from the receiver’s hands. Given his frame, he should easily be over 200 lbs. at the next level. Very fresh weight lifting numbers for now, but he is a powerful athlete; I wouldn’t even rule out Futrell growing into an off-ball linebacker at the next level. Colleges are interested, especially after a strong MVP camp performance during the spring. He ran a top speed sprint of 21.5 MPH recently. Currently, he is one of the most underrated players in the class of 2026. Perhaps colleges are still deciding the best position, and the simple answer is on your team. Figure out the details later.

Three ‘n Out

Every year, there is a basketball-turned-football player who pops up right before their senior year, and we might just have another diamond in the rough with Daniel Mpelempele out of Discovery. The 6’5″ athlete is a smooth coming out of his breaks in just a few clips we have seen so far. Given his size and acceleration, Mpelempele has the tools that almost every D1 school looks for a receiver. Very similar athlete to Onuma Dieke, who is currently fighting for an NFL spot.

Malachi Character was a first-team All-State selection in his junior year at Upson-Lee. The 3A standout strikes the ball carrier with incredible impact and just has a nose for the football, which has made over 250 tackles in the last two seasons. Character has gained good weight over the last year, going from the mid-180s to around 210. That is a noteworthy progression, and his high school coach Foster believes he can be around 220 by the start of the season and is a lock to win defensive player of the year in 3A.

Elbert County star athlete DK Winn won the Class A Triple Jump Championship last weekend with a posted distance of 46-11.50. The 6’2″ 170 lbs. receiver is still filling out his frame, but he is a twitchy athlete who can make a sharp lateral cut in tight spaces to maneuver around a defender or two. Elbert County used his quickness on screen passes effectively for big plays. As he continues to sharpen up his route running, Winn’s agility should be a separating factor, no pun intended. The lanky receiver has solid weight-lifting numbers and needs to continue to mature into his frame. Some added muscle should help with his top-end speed, but don’t expect him to ever weigh near 200 lbs. anytime soon. The quick-twitch nature of Winn is prolific, which is what makes him a unique athlete. You don’t win the state triple jump championship without being a great athlete.
