Recruiting Recap 5/12

Welcome to another edition of the recruiting recap! We are slowly getting into the middle of May here, and recruiting momentum continues to snowball downhill. This is always an exciting time of the year here in Georgia – pandemic or not!

This feature will list yesterday’s offers, three players who are heating up and a sleeper of the day! I hope this creates a nice snap shot into the state’s recruiting world, so please continue to come back each day Mon-Fri!

I am also working on another update to our premium database, which will be ready in a few days here. Also, continuing to make profiles on the website, I was slowed down for a little due to server issues with GoDaddy but that seems to be better today.

Hope everyone is doing well and staying healthy!

Three Heating Up

Victor Venn
2022 Buford

The smooth running back got a lot of reps last year for the state champs and finished of with right at 800 yards and 8 touchdowns. He’s an impressive APB with solid speed and excellent vision. Had a nice hesitation at the line of scrimmage – we saw that in the state title game where he ripped off a long run, which ended up being a crucial score in a tight game against Warner Robins. Venn has seen recent offers from Florida State and FAU here. Based off his sophomore year production it is easy to see the quick-cutting back becoming one of the top APB in the state. His vision is excellent and definitely a lot stronger than he looks.

Jackson Hamilton
2021 Blessed Trinity

Hamilton has been building recruiting momentum for most of the offseason, but his last three offers are now P5’s, which is a new trend for sure. Florida State, Kentucky and Georgia Tech have all offered in the last week here. The aggressive OLB prospect is a very versatile player who looks good in pass coverage and a fundamentally sound tackler. He now holds over 20 offers by our count, and 12 of which are from P5 programs. I can definitely see this trend continue here, so stay tuned in the coming weeks here. Hamilton is everything you look for in a college athlete.

Kayin Lee
2023 Cedar Grove

Lee’s recruitment is really starting to catch fire here. The class of 2023 back has some elite high-pointing skills for a player his age. He’s extremely tough in coverage, uses his hands really well to throw the receiver off his route. Good open field tackler too. There is a ton to like with Lee. He’s 6′ and 160 lbs. already. Over the last week here Lee has received offers from East Carolina, Georgia Tech and Florida State. He now had 6 total offers at the moment, and just from judging his early varsity film, Lee should end up being one of the most coveted cornerbacks in this recruiting class.

Sleeper of the Day

Montavious Tabor
2021 East Hall

Tabor moved over to RB this year, and what stands out on film is the determination of not going down on contact. He has a nice explosive first step, changes directions well, but needs to continue to improve his elusiveness in the open field. Definitely like his running style though, he puts his cleats in the turf and gets up field. Would be very effective in a spread offense where there is a lot of zone read. Learning to know when to accelerate will be critical for Tabor, right now he just explodes up field and sometimes by his blocks. Very good receiver, makes a few tough grabs where he has to reach back and make the catch. Tabor is a versatile athlete, I was not originally expecting him to be this good of a receiver, but considering his explosive first step there is a lot to like. His film continues to impress the more you watch, the 2021 back can play FBS football given his skill set, especially in the right offense.
