Welcome to another edition of the Recruiting Recap! I believe by the end of this week we will officially be at the 4 week mark of continuing this series Mon-Friday each morning. We have yet to miss a day, so please continue to keep coming back for all the recruiting news around the state of Georgia.
This feature of course has all of yesterday’s offers (or last weekend’s in this case), three players who are heating up and our sleeper of the day! We hope that colleges can use this as an easy and accessible tool to recruit the state, but we also offer premium content too, so contact recruitgeorgia1@gmail.com for more info.
Hope everyone had a great Mother’s Day Weekend!

Three Heating Up
Bubba Chandler
2021 North Oconee
Chandler helped North Oconee to possible the greatest season in school history, but still remained a fairly under the radar recruiting going into the offseason. He had been committed to UGA baseball prior to the season even started, and historically we have seen recruits opt for the diamond over the pigskin. Chandler though continues to get recruited. The strong armed QB just earned his first P5 offer in Clemson the other day, a school that does not give out a lot of offers. Over the last month Mercer, Western Kentucky, Elon and Charlotte have also offered, but the one from the Tigers is by far the biggest. Will more FBS programs pick up his recruitment and follow Clemson’s lead? We think so. Better keep an eye on the Chandler over the next few weeks here. His recruitment could truly blow up, but will it pop his committment to baseball?
Devonte Ross
2021 Cartersville
The speedy playmaker from Cartersville saw a surge offers at the end of last week coming from Arkon, Gardner-Webb and Liberty. The 2021 receiver is lightening quick but also shows very strong hands catching it thru traffic. Considered by the staff as a P5 level recruit, Ross is definitely an explosive play waiting to happen, and if he can boost his grades here over the next few semesters, then that should lock the 2021 recruit into everyone’s radar. For now, we expect more programs to submit an offer. His speed and explosiveness has not been seen at Cartersville since Kaleb Chatmon from a few classes back here.
Caleb Downs
2023 Mill Creek
We’ve heard a lot about Downs already. The 2023 Mill Creek defensive back definitely has an elite IQ for his age group. He is a spring athlete with excellent change of direction and feel for the game. Downs just always seems to find himself in the right spot, and does a very good job of getting downhill on passes out to the flat, taking excellent pursuit angles. On the recruiting front the last week has been huge in terms of P5 attention. Georgia, Kentucky and Tennessee all offered in a 48 hour period last week, and he already held prior offers from GT, NC State, UNC and Kent State. There is very little doubt that Downs won’t be a top prospect in the 2023 recruiting class, and you should expect more P5 offers flying out the window here sooner rather than later.
Sleeper of the Day
Caleb Fisher
2021 Columbia
Columbia was pretty good in 2019, and they competed with everyone they went up against all season long. Fisher, the long speedy edge rusher who is the little brother of a Wofford commit and had himself a very good season. He was a terror on the edge, playing with a ton of intensity and just didn’t allow OL to block him. Doesn’t have a lot of pass rush moves just yet, needs to be quicker with his hands and continue to work there, but generally speaking, Fisher has a ton of upside at the next level, and if he continues to fill out his frame like his brother, then I can see Fisher really packing on the weight and being a good edge defender at the college level. Really like how the 6’3″ 220 lbs. defenders breaks off his block and gets into pursuit of the ball carrier from the weakside, he always seems to be locked into the play and looks to be a very productive junior year. Right now, Fisher holds D1 offers from Tenn Tech, Georgia Southern and UT-Martin, but in our opinion his upside is definitively FBS, and we expect more programs to jump on here soon enough.
