Recruiting Recap 5/1

Consistency is key, and as we enter a new month of recruiting we will continue our pledge to cover our daily findings in the recruiting world. During these uncertain times, we want to a bedrock for the football community here in the state, so please continue to follow along, as we will be posting new recaps Mon-Fri, while also posting new recruiting profiles each night.

With that said, welcome to another edition of the recruiting recap. Here will jot down all of yesterday’s offers around the state, three players who are heating up and a pick for sleeper of the day. If we somehow missed your offer, then please contact us on Twitter to be added in – granted we are not covering prep offers for 2021 recruits at the moment.

Three Heating Up

Jaylen Blackwell
2021 Union Grove

The multi-talented athlete stands 6’2″ 190 lbs. and was a 1st Team All-Region DB in 2019. That’s where we like him at the next level, strong safety in fact. Blackwell has good acceleration and hits with impact. He’s been getting a steady stream of offers in April. Programs like Fordham, Middle Tenn, Austin-Peay, Arkansas State, & Army all offered last month. Blackwell is a prospect we expect to continue to get FBS interest going forward, his frame and athleticism will be too much to pass up.

Devin Farrell
2022 Milton

The offense clicked and clacked in 2019, but once Farrell took over the starting position his team seemed to hit their stride. The 2022 dual threat QB was a legit threat with the ball in his hands, and more than capable of breaking off huge plays. Just in the last two days he has received offers from Georgia Tech, Wake Forest and Duke. He’s been working with several of the QB gurus this offseason. We fully expect a Jordan Yates-like jump for the 2022 quarterback his junior year throwing the ball, and he should be a coveted quarterback in this class.

Omar Daniels
2021 Colquitt

Daniels is a prospect that in our eyes is a no-doubt FBS recruit, and that is slowly coming to fruition as of late. Just the other night, East Carolina offered, and earlier this month both Georgia State, Arkansas State, Buffalo, Liberty, & Georgia Southern joined the party. The 6′ 180 lbs. defensive back was a ball magnet in 2019, and he shows the versatility to play CB or FS at the next level. Daniels is a very slept on recruit still at this point, but the FBS interest is slowly growing, and we think May is where he breaks out with a lot more FBS offers.

Sleeper of the Day

Quentavius Scandrett
2021 Lovejoy

To put simply, Scandrett is a P5 athlete. He has outstanding ball skills going up for the football, his 6’3″ frame just explodes up for the pass and he has excellent timing with his jump. Does a very good job of squaring up on the pass. Played a ton of receiver this year and was very effective, which makes our initial projection at safety a little more questionable. Scandrett is a fluid runner and can bust open into the 2nd and 3rd level of the defense for huge gains, but still love his upside on defense. He is a sound tackler, does a nice job of meeting the ball carrier low with his attempt. The 2021 recruit covers a lot of space at the safety spot, and with his leaping ability, he can patrol the middle breaking up deep passes with the best of them. In our opinion, Scandrett is one of the biggest sleepers in this class, we were convinced at this point that FBS programs would be all over him, but currently holds FBS offers from Miami-OH, Liberty and Army. I still believe it is only a matter of time before more programs offer the long-athletic prospect, we have him projected to go P5-G5.
