Recruiting Recap 4/28

Welcome to another edition of the Recruiting Recap! As usual, we will be tallying up all of yesterday’s offers in the state of Georgia, and boy howdy, there has been a lot lately! We have seen several days in a row where over 60 athletes in the state received offers. Also, we will feature three recruits who are trending up and today’s sleeper.

Of course we have been working hard on our public profiles that we make each day, but we also have a premium option for colleges. With summer camps basically being thrown out the window, our premium database is the next best option to get accurate, and credible information from the #1 source on Georgia. We are currently working on a live option with streamlined updates, so please get in contact now at recruitgeorgia1@gmail.com.

Thanks again to everyone who has been checking out the recaps the last week or so. Please continue to follow along as we will be posting each day Mon-Fri!

Note: we are not tracking Prep offers this early in the process unless you are 2020.

Three Heating Up

Josh Battle
2021 Mill Creek

Battle is someone we have projected as a no-doubt FBS talent, and the offers have started to roll in for the class of 2021 defensive back. Just in the month of April, Battle has received offers from Arkansas State, Tenn Tech, South Alabama, Georgia State, UT-Chatt & Temple. At 6’1.5″ and 185 lbs. we think Battle should be well over 200 lbs. at the college level and should be making another big jump this upcoming fall that should even attract P5 programs. He got some reps at running back last fall too, so it will be interesting to see if he is their primary back in 2020.

Legend Doggett
2021 Ola

Doggett was 1st team All-Region and Honorable Mention All-State here on the site. In earnest, he is one of the best cornerbacks in the state of Georgia with excellent coverage skills, quickness and a very good open field tackler. The Ola corner scored a 22 on the ACT, and that has programs like Georgia State, Coastal Carolina and SEMO offering here in the last week. There is no doubt in my mind that Doggett will land more offers, he is a P5 talent with instincts and quickness that just come naturally.

Malachi Thomas
2021 Hart Co.

Our Class 3-A Co-Player of the year Malachi Thomas led Hart County to one of their best seasons in recent memory, and tallied over 2000 yards of total offense. Well, the month of April seems to be just as productive as his exploits on the field, and he has received offers from Gardner Webb, Middle Tenn, Tenn Tech, Charlotte, Tulane, UCONN, FIU & Coastal Carolina. Right now, it seems like G5 programs are all over the long 6′ 180 lbs. rising senior, but if he puts up another elite performance again in 2020, you have to think some P5 programs will commit with an offer. Thomas is definitely a recruit to watch going forward, a little more weight gain here and he will be nearly unstoppable at the high school level.

Sleeper of the Day

Wason Davis
2021 Shaw

Davis has been the starter over at Shaw for a few years now. He has a strong arm that can stretch the field 50 yards or more. He is a pretty good runner with the ball too, and is able to break a lot of tackles with his bigger frame. Davis is strong in the lower body. He makes a few crazy throws off his back leg where he could certainly have more body control, but still, he sends the football out 40 yards down field. It’s surprising to see the lack of D1 offers at this point for the 2021 dual threat. He has the raw tools to be a good spread option QB. His power running style coupled with his solid vision at the 2nd level gets him good yardage when he is scrambling out. Mostly, his arm strength is what really sets him apart. Shaw was a surprise team in 2019, and with a lot of talent returning, I expect Davis and his teammates to make a lot of noise.
