Recruiting Recap 3/24

Recruiting Buzz

Sandy Creek running back Jaelan Green has been blowing up as of late. The class of 17 back won RB MVP at the Atlanta Nike Regional on 3/20. He also has received offers from Georgia Southern, Tulane, Jax State, Samford, James Madison, Cincinnati, & Miami Ohio this month.

Owen Pappoe competed at the Nike Opening Regional last weekend where he posted the highest SPARQ (128.22) rating at the combine. To put into perspective, Pappoe’s measurements were better than EVERY player and most athletes were 2-3 years older than him. The rising sophomore linebacker was runner up for Max Preps Class of 2019 Player of the Year last season. He has close to 30 offers now. Most recent offers this month are from Jax State, Tulane, Clemson, and Penn State. He has also unofficial visited to Tennessee and Georgia Tech.

Kyric McGowan is a really fast back out of Dalton HS. The rising senior scored a SPARQ of 105.39 – most notable McGowan ran a 4.47 40 time and 37.4″ vertical jump. He was just offered by James Madison this evening and it was his 2nd offer.

Tony “Duke” Gray, an Under Armor All-American offensive tackle for Central Gwinnett, was offered by Georgia Tech on March 21st. Arkansas and NC State also offered this month. The big offensive lineman has received a ton of offers from Power 5 schools throughout the last year, including football powerhouses like: Ohio State, LSU & Miami. He also did work in the classroom, and achieved academic honor roll last fall at Central Gwinnett

Stockbridge running back Jalen Holsten was offered by Western Michigan today. The bulldozing rising senior back was recently offered by Mizzou, Western Kentucky, Georgia Southern, Miss State, Virginia, Tulane and childhood favorite Virginia Tech.

Jeremiah Holloman was offered by Louisville. He has receive a ton of power 5 offers lately and has a planned visit to Tennessee (offered) on April 2nd.

Looks like Nick Saban will be all over Harrison Bailey for the duration of his HS career. Bailey will be a freshman next year at Hillgrove and just took a visit to Tuscaloosa and met Coach Saban. Harrison was offered by Mark Richt and Miami just a month back – they were his first and only offer.

Class of 2017 middle linebacker Chinedu Ogbonna was offered by Tennessee today. This was his first SEC offer after getting a ton of interest from mid-major regional schools. Ogbonna is a great looking athlete with a ton of upside with his 6’3″ frame and elite quickness.

Rising senior Sean Nelson from Langston Hughes was offered by Georgia Southern. The wide receiver has good size and speed.

ELCA rushing leader Trevor Gear received an offer from Ball State on March 22nd. Ball State joins Mercer in pursuit of his football services.

Lovejoy 2017 athlete Marquese Taylor has been offered by Tennessee and Middle Tennessee over the last week.

Two time All State defensive tackle Dontae Wilson was offered by the Navy Midshipmen tonight. This was offer #3 for the Jefferson HS rising senior.

Eric Stokes Jr ran the fastest 40 time at the Nike Regional last weekend clocking at 4.35. He consistently ran in the low 4.3’s at UGA’s and GT’s summer camps last year. The rising senior was the 400 meters champ in his classification and is most likely the fastest player in the state of Georgia. He has been offered by Jax State and Marshall in the last 24 hours.

Editorial

Just wanted to start this section at the bottom of recaps. I have picked up and tossed this feature on my site more times then I care to admit but I’m going to try and make it mostly information based. Whatever offers I see on Twitter I will just summarize like above. Then I’ll throw around whatever sports thoughts I have at the current moment down here at the bottom. Please feel free to comment!

What is everyone thoughts about tonight’s college basketball games? My brackets is mostly intact (almost perfect in the South Region) and has Kansas, Miami, Duke and Oklahoma all winning. Think differently? Leave a comment below.

I’m planning on doing more with the Atlanta Nike Regional. I don’t claim to be an expert at any of this, but looking at data is how I have separated myself from a lot of my startup competition over the last year. For now, I think every college coach should be checking out this LINK for results from last weekend’s Nike combine.

New York Times wrote a very engrossing article about the NFL’s flawed concussion research. The NFL has used this data as evidence about their concussion skepticism and it turns out a lot of information was concealed by the league. Read the article by clicking HERE.
