Recruiting Recap 12/2

Welcome to another edition of the Recruiting Recap! Thanks to those who continue to support our efforts, and for all college coaches visit the website each and every day! Ever since April 17th, I have been doing these recaps each weekday, save a handful of days, and feel like it has made an awesome impact during this extended recruiting dead period. From what I have found, no other recruiting service in the country covers our state better than these recaps, so thanks to all who continue to support Recruit Georgia.

All that aside, it was an exciting day of offers yesterday, so let’s get into it! Scroll on down below and see all of yesterday’s recruiting happenings, and have a great rest of your day! – David

Commitments

Davis Watson
2021 Darlington
Cornell

Scoop: The 2021 OT is really just beginning to fill out his 6’6″ frame, and has the raw athleticism to be a legit steal at the FCS level. Cornell had to beat out several more high-academic programs like Penn, Brown, Army and Richmond. Watson joins fellow Darlington teammate Harrison Allen as joint Cornell commits in the class of 2021.

Latreveone Gaither
2021 Meadowcreek
Hutchinson CC

Scoop: Gaither reminds us a lot of Kurt Taylor from a few years back who played Newton and Grayson. The powerful ball of muscle at Meadowcreek bulldozers through arm tackles and is a tough determined runner. Gaither should see good college interest on the 2nd go around at the JUCO level, so expect to see his name pop up in the next year or two.

Devan Hughes
2021 Hardaway
Gardner-Webb

Scoop: Hughes was one of the real sleeper OL in this recruiting class. The 6’4″ OL who weighs right at 280 lbs. has quick feet, plays with urgency and has nice fundamentals. He has the versatility to play across the line and should be able to contribute early in his career for Gardner-Webb.

Keyshawn Blackstock
2021 Newton
Independence CC

Scoop: Blackstock is a huge 6’6″ 320 lbs. OL who just started to get varsity reps as a junior, and really started to come into his own senior year. You cannot find many athletes at his size and raw upside, and a few more years in development and we should see this 2021 prospect on an FBS program.

Sleeper of the Day

Cardarius Stone
Jefferson Co.

The 2021 OLB/SS prospect has quality size and comes off the edge with intensity. He is pretty solid in coverage sliding his feet well at the snap and flipping hips quick enough for a safety. He has a good bit of tackles from the backside and shows a lot of hustle. He’s close to getting a few strips here from behind but doesn’t seem to rake the ball out all of the time. He definitely is an OLB right now in HS with pretty good production too. Stone played in the GACA game as a junior. He does a good job of closing on the ball carrier. Shows a nice combo of run-stopping instincts and good enough in man coverage to pique some colleges’ interest. Keeps a forward lean when running. Tackling is pretty good but does use his arms more than would like. At 5’10” and 196 lbs. Stone packs a punch, and over the last year, he has gained 15 lbs. His senior film looks much more like a linebacker hybrid who does a nice job getting low and attacking the offense in the backfield, but also the ability to play off the edge and make tackles out in the flat.
