Heating Up

Felix Hixon
2022 Jackson

With offers from Vandy, Wisconsin and Virginia Tech you can bet your tail that we are going to add Hixon to the heating up feature. The 6’4″ 280 lbs. DT made our Preseason All-State team after a 70 tackle performance as a sophomore. He’s powerful at the point of attack and moves well in space for a guy his size. Bowling Green, Liberty & Akron offered at the start of the season, but we suspect more major FBS programs jump in here soon.

Sleeper of the Day

Tequez Williams
2021 Sandy Creek

Williams has a wiry but strong build to him and will flat out stick a ball carrier in the gaps. He doesn’t mess around and goes in hard and fast into the lower body of the ball carrier. In fact, I would like to see him show a bit more patience when reading the ball carrier but got to love his aggression. He has pretty good length, allows him to get off blocks fairly fast, but also make some disruptive plays in pass coverage. There is some interesting upside to Williams, but he needs to definitely to continue to fill out his frame. He’s around 182 lbs. at the time of writing this. Williams could really make another jump this year, and I can see a lot of D1 programs becoming interested in the 2021 recruit. You can see his open-field tackling down below against Douglass, where he took on a 4 star back multiple times 1v1 and got him down quickly – even forcing a fumble on one occasion.
