Sleeper of the Day

Ahlik Booker
2021 Jonesboro

Booker was all over the place at Jonesboro his junior year playing both safety, corner, and some offense even. The beat continues his senior year, and he already has a few interceptions under his belt. He was someone we identified early in the process as a potential D1 recruit, but admittedly lost track of over the last year. Booker has a good feel for the game. He does a solid job of reading the play and reacting quickly. Makes nice interceptions where he shows quality top-end acceleration to pick six a ball. Does so multiple times at FS actually. He’s very quick, watching his film at receiver shows him just sliding right by tacklers. Made a few high-pointed plays on defense and offense. Shows solid hands in general. Does a nice job of attacking the football. Would like to see him more at CB since that’s a better position for his frame, but he looks good at FS regardless. Shows good potential at CB and like how quickly he can drop back and backpedal or make a hard break on a pass. Needs to continue to work on tackling, he does look stronger in his senior film, and he is doing a solid job of driving his legs through the attempt instead of shoulder checking or profile tackling the ball carrier. Takes good long pursuit angles and hustles his tail off across the field to make a tackle.
