Heating Up

Jelani Thurman
2023 Hughes

Thurman is one of the more enticing prospects in this recruiting class. The 6’6″ 225 lbs. tight end has an insane catch radius and some huge hands to haul in passes. He’s been collecting offers lately too. The junior has offers from Duke, Boston College and Memphis from the start of the year. They join offers from NC State, Colorado, Tennessee, Liberty, LSU, Michigan State and more. The 6’6″ pass-catcher is one of the top TE prospects in this recruiting class.

Grant Godfrey
2023 North Gwinnett

Godfrey has been landing offer for some time now, but over the last 24 hours or so he has seen the largest haul of any athlete in the state. The 6’3″ linebacker has earned offers from UCONN, Kansas State, Purdue, Miss State, Georgia Southern and Mizzou. They all join a rather large list of FBS offers, but illustrates the growing interest in the 2023 backer. Be on the watch out here, Godfrey is quickly becoming one of the most coveted linebackers in this recruiting class.

Sleeper of the Day

Christian Johnson-Hall
2022 New Hampstead

Johnson did not play his junior year, he was injured, but the class of ’22 prospect has been on our radar really since his freshman year. He is a big wide frame and is now up to 265, a nearly 35 lbs. increase in the last year. At this point, we view Johnson as a DT. He is pretty quick coming off the edge, and that gives him some interesting versatility at the next level. The senior has always been a very good athlete with nice top-end acceleration to the football. he does appear to have refined his tackling some, but we would like to see more consistency in getting the ball carrier down. Johnson-Hall looks like an ideal 3-4 DE at the next level. His quickness and speed to the football at 270 lbs. is really solid, and overall we like his motor chasing out ball carriers to the sideline. There is a lot of upside here for the 2022 athlete, and a little more time in the weight room and you should see Johnson-Hall approach 300 lbs.
