Ruff has just recently updated his SR film, so we wanted to highlight the 6′ speedster out of Jefferson County. Ruff plays a mixture of positions, but going into the college level, it seems like safety is the best spot. He covers a lot of ground, capable of flipping his hips, getting out to the sideline, and making a play on the football that a lot of safety prospects simply cannot close the gap on. His acceleration is impressive, you can see that on several of his offensive plays where he picks up yardage in a few strides. Ruff has good reactions, turning and twisting to adjust to a football, which is beneficial at the safety spot breaking up passes. At around 6′, Ruff seems to have above-average length and can continuously win contested footballs on film. He does need to improve his tackling fundamentals. Jefferson County has relied on him heavily for offense this year, which says a lot about his versatility, but we feel confident in Ruff’s prospect in the defensive secondary.
