Among defensive tackles in Georgia, John is among the strongest in the lower body. The 6’2″ 290 lbs. nose tackle squats over 600 lbs. You can see his powerful lower-frame drive offensive lineman back routinely on film. The defensive lineman has good hands getting off blocks. We would like to see him continue to get quicker coming out of his stance and timing the snap. He is an impactful tackler but does need to improve fundamentals. John relies on his sheer size and often arm tackles to get a ball carrier down; that won’t fly at the college level. John is about 15 lbs heavier than last fall, so he is showing steady progress as he continues to mature physically. John does a good job of getting low in the trenches and maintaining good gap responsibility. Considering his role on the defense, he has a good frame to anchor the middle and stuff the run at the next level. Focusing on getting quicker at the point of attack, and just playing quicker with his hands and feet will turn John into an impact FBS defensive lineman.
