What makes you stand out as a future collegiate athlete?
What makes me stand out as a future collegiate athlete is my ability to be a student-athlete. I’m a huge leader on the field and a big playmaker. I’m a respectful and coachable player who is willing to work hard for my position.
Going into freshman year, Walker was an athlete who stood out to us in the class of ’25. The linebacker was already built like he was ready for the varsity and showed excellent body control for his age. Walker broke onto the scene as a sophomore where he quickly became an impact linebacker for Buford. He has extremely light feet and can adjust quickly to the ball carrier while in pursuit. Walker is a thumping tackler with immense strength. He has a habit of hopping while shading laterally instead of sliding his feet; that needs to improve. Walker uses his acceleration to shoot the gaps and then uses that momentum in tandem with his strength to efficiently get the ball carrier down. He is a downright explosive tackler, among the biggest hitters in this year’s class. We would like to see him drop his hips, wrap up at the thighs, and drive his legs through the attempt more consistently. The highlight hit sticks won’t go far at the college level, where his frame will need to rely on great fundamentals to reliably get the ball carrier down. Walker is a highly functional athlete though, and as he continues to get more experience, we feel like he should excel at the next level. Taking a jump with his pass coverage, and becoming quicker with rotating his hips over are some key areas of focus for the run-stopping Buford backer.
