With Montgomery’s film ending so abruptly during September of his junior year, one might conclude that an injury occurred. The 2024 prospect certainly made an impact in that time though. We were interested in scouting Montgomery; his weightlifting #’s alone suggest a pretty explosive athlete. His junior film supports that theory, too. Montgomery gets a good beat on the play and is a solid tackler. He shows good acceleration to the football. Tackling is impactful, but would like to see him drop his hips more consistently when meeting the ball carrier. No doubt, Montgomery is looking to lay the wood on defense. Montgomery has plenty room to grow physically, and we think the twitchy defensive back provides enough positional versatility on top of his physicality to play both nickle or free safety at the next level, which adds extra recruiting value. Montgomery is also a solid slot back on offense getting vertical with his running and showing nice pad level bouncing off tacklers. Overall, the 2024 recruit is a solid all-around football player that should attract local colleges’ interest.
