Atkinson is one of the best players in his region. The super athletic cornerback is in the mold of so many Claxton specialists that we have seen in the past. He is a versatile playmaker with an innate feel for the game. What you have to like about Atkinson is his aggressiveness. He reads the play in the backfield and is quick to get out to the flat and make a play. He is a solid tackler in space, showing good explosiveness in the hips. Very smart football player who sees the field well and lines up his pursuit angles. Atkinson weighs around 160 lbs. going into the summer of his final year of football. He has okay height for a cornerback at 5’10” and we think can get to around 180 lbs. at the next level. The ball skills of the 2024 recruit are legit as well. We are really impressed by his ability to read the ball up top and make a play at the apex of his jump. If you are looking for just a pure football player who plays the game with a lot of confidence, then Atkinson certainly hits the mark. Plus he has a lot of positional versatility and the mindset to be an impact player on special teams.
