Serna made our All-State team in 2020 after a great senior year where he totaled 118 tackles, 90 solos, 7 sacks and 9 QB hurries and 1 interception too. The 6′ 213 lbs. linebacker is a high IQ football player who reacts quickly to the play. His recognition is obvious on film. He gets a good jump towards the ball and takes good pursuit angles. Serna plays with a lot of intensity and has good agility getting around blockers. He is more of a traditional WIll, but has good enough size to play in a two linebacker scheme at the right level. Serna is a good tacklers, he does a nice job of staying low, but would like to see him continue to drive his legs through the tackle. The 2021 linebacker’s agility is very good, and that allows him to move around the tackle box and close up holes. Serna is probably going to cap out at 230 lbs at the next level, so maintaining his good quickness will be huge. He could get some looks late here from DII, NAIA and DIII programs but also think he is a good candidate to be a PWO for a D1 team too.
