Johnson was an effective safety for Blessed Trinity breaking up double-digit passes and causing 3 fumbles. He does a nice job putting a hat on the ball carrier, and quickly reacting to the play. The 2025 safety is a solid tackler in space, doing a good job of settling into his attempt and making fundamental tackles where he wraps up at the hip and takes the ball carrier down. We would like to see him work on driving his legs through the attempt. Getting more explosive in the hips will help. Johnson looks to be a nickel at the next level. He’s solid in coverage, and does a good job of playing physically, but doesn’t have the quickness in the hips to go against ultra-fast players in space. He is a high IQ player though who consistently gets a good read on the play. As we said, getting more explosive and working on his hip quickness are the two main areas to improve. Johnson is a solid prospect who should garner the attention of local programs all around.
